  • Patent number: 10559221
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for the implementation of personalized cognitive training. As an example, a processor-implemented method is provided for enhancing cognitive abilities of a user by personalizing cognitive training regimens through difficulty progression. The method includes: performing a cognitive assessment of a user using a set of assessment tasks; estimating a maximal performance of the user related to the set of assessment tasks; determining a performance range based at least in part on the maximal performance of the user; dividing the performance range into a plurality of progress gates, the plurality of progress gates corresponding to a plurality of task difficulty levels; selecting a first progress gate within the performance range; generating a first set of training tasks associated with the first progress gate; and collecting the user's first training responses to the first set of training tasks.

  • Publication number: 20190261908
Abstract: Example systems, methods, and apparatus, including cognitive platforms, are provided for applying signal detection metrics in computer-implemented adaptive response-deadline procedures to data collected based at least in part on user interaction(s) with computerized tasks and/or interferences. The apparatus can include a response classifier for generating a quantifier of the cognitive abilities of an individual. The apparatus also can be configured to adapt the tasks and/or interferences to enhance the individual's cognitive abilities.

  • Publication number: 20190216392
Abstract: Example systems, methods, and apparatus, including cognitive platforms, are provided for computing performance metrics of an individual based at least in part on user interaction(s) with computerized tasks and/or interference and at least one physiological measure of the individual, where the performance metric provides an indication of the cognitive abilities of the individual. The apparatus can be coupled to at least one physiological component to perform the physiological measurement of the individual. The apparatus also can be configured to adapt the tasks and/or interferences to enhance the individual's cognitive abilities.

  • Publication number: 20190159716
Abstract: An apparatus for generating a quantifier of cognitive skills in an individual includes a user interface, a memory to store processor-executable instructions, and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the user interface and the memory. Upon execution of the processor-executable instructions by the processing unit, the processing unit is configured to: render a first instance of a task with an interference at the user interface, requiring a first response from the individual to the first instance of the task in the presence of the interference and a response from the individual to at least one evocative element. One or more of the first instance of the task and the interference comprises the at least one evocative element. The user interface is configured to measure data indicative of the response of the individual to the at least one evocative element, the data comprising at least one measure of emotional processing capabilities of the individual under emotional load.

  • Publication number: 20160262680
Abstract: A computer-implemented cognitive assessment tool is provided for assessing cognitive ability of an individual while multi-tasking. In one embodiment, a computer processing system on which the tool is implemented may receive form the individual first responses to a first task and second responses to a second task, where the first task and the second task are presented to the individual simultaneously. The system may determine that the first task and the second task are performed by the individual based on the first responses and the second responses, and compute a cognitive measure using one or both of the first responses and the second responses. Further, computing the cognitive measure may be based on performance measures of one or both of the first responses and the second responses. Based on the cognitive measure, the system may output a cognitive assessment to the individual.

  • Publication number: 20150144628
Abstract: A dual purpose cup lid and condiment vessel device. The device includes a body having a cup engagement interface that is formed proximate a perimeter edge of the body. The cup engagement interface faces in an operating direction associated with engaging the device with a rim of an underlying beverage cup. A condiment reservoir is defined by the body and is disposed radially inboard of the cup engagement interface. The condiment reservoir is defined by a blind hole having a single opening that faces in the operating direction associated with the cup engagement interface such that the device can be used as a cup lid in a first orientation and as a condiment palette when the device is flipped over and otherwise dissociated with a beverage cup.
