    Abstract: Provided herein is a method of targeting stem cells to a specific region of the central nervous system of an individual in need of such treatment, comprising the steps of administering stem cells containing a superparamagnetic nanoparticles to said individual; and applying an external source of a magnetic field to the exterior of said individual's brain so as to advance and maneuver said stem cells. Also provided is a composition for targeting cells to a specific region of the central nervous system of an individual in need of such treatment, comprising stem cells containing a superparamagnetic nanoparticles.
