  • Patent number: 11880178
Abstract: A surface data acquisition, storage, and assessment system for detecting and quantifying similarities or differences between scanned surface data before and after the surface has been acted upon by a surface altering element.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 15, 2020
Date of Patent: January 23, 2024
Inventors: Paul E. Thomson, Adam R. Gerlach
  • Patent number: 11281176
Abstract: A surface data acquisition, storage, and assessment system for detecting and quantifying similarities or differences between stored data and data collected from a scan. The system operates to scan features of an object and weighs various parameters and utilizing fuzzy logic makes a recommendation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 27, 2017
Date of Patent: March 22, 2022
    Assignee: EctoScan Systems, LLC
Inventors: Paul Thomson, Adam R. Gerlach, Bruce Walker
  • Patent number: 10384780
Abstract: Precision ballistic airdrop of packages from an aircraft comprises entering the estimated wind field in the drop zone into a CPU aboard the packages; computing a transition altitude for each of the packages based on the wind field and the order in which each package is released, each package having a predetermined release order; programming the computed transition altitude into each of the packages; releasing each of the packages in the predetermined order; comparing a pressure altitude to the transition altitude in the CPU of each package; jettisoning the drogue chute and deploying the main chute for each of the packages when the pressure altitude is less than or equal to the transition altitude; and descending each of the packages under its main chute, wherein the wind field affects the flight of some of the packages more than others based on the selection of the transition altitude for each package.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 2017
Date of Patent: August 20, 2019
Assignee: United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air Force
Inventors: David B Doman, Adam R. Gerlach, Josiah T. Vandermey

  • Patent number: 9599461
Abstract: A surface data acquisition, storage, and assessment system for detecting and quantifying similarities or differences between stored data and data collected from a scan. The system operates utilizing a method that decreases the time required for calculating a pose estimate thus increasing its performance making it more practical for applications that require real-time operations. In a preferred embodiment the system comprises one or more sensing components for scanning and measuring surface features of an object for determining the identity of the object, and determines differences between data obtained from two or more scans.
    Type: Grant
