  • Patent number: 11424675
Abstract: A circuit design for efficiently transferring significant levels of electrical power with non-inductive circuit elements. Power is transferred using synchronously-switched capacitive elements in such a way that both discharge from the power source and charge transferred to a load (and/or back to the power supply) are supplied as low duration, high-intensity current pulses. The synchronous power transfer alternates between connecting capacitive charge storage elements in parallel and in series so that both step-up and step-down topologies may be readily realized.

  • Patent number: 10804871
Abstract: The present subject matter provides technical solutions for the technical problems facing cryogenic ion traps by providing a cryogenic radio-frequency (RF) resonator that is compact, monolithic, modular, and impedance-matched to a cryogenic ion trap. The cryogenic RF resonator described herein is power-efficient, properly impedance-matched to the RF source, has a stable gain profile, and is compatible with a low temperature and ultra-high vacuum environment. In some examples, the gain profile is selected so that the cryogenic RF resonator acts as a cryogenic RF amplifier. This cryogenic RF resonator improves the performance of ion traps by reducing or minimizing the heat load and reducing or minimizing the unwanted noise that may erroneously drive trapped ions. These features of the present subject matter improve the performance of atomic clocks and mass spectrometers, and especially improve the performance of trapped ion quantum computers.

  • Publication number: 20190163730
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating an application for a mobile device. A markup-language document that includes a visible first element and a hidden second element is generated. The first element specifies first content, and a mapping of a first callback to a first event standard attribute. The second element specifies second content, and a first standard attribute having a first attribute value. First program instructions are generated for the first callback. The first program instructions include instructions for controlling a presentation engine of a mobile device to hide the first element and display the second element during rendering of the markup-language document by the presentation engine by using a DOM for the markup language. Application data is generated that includes the markup-language document and the first program instructions. The application data is provided to an application store system via a network.

  • Publication number: 20050179896
Abstract: Disclosed are light extinction-type optical particle detection systems and methods for their use. One such system comprises a laser source that produces a laser beam. The laser beam propagates from the laser source in response to a drive current having an amplitude that reaches a lasing threshold. The laser beam is characterized by mode-hopping noise energy that is produced by spurious switching of laser operating modes. The system also comprises a view volume through which the laser beam propagates and a stream of target particles immersed in a carrier fluid flows. The system also comprises a light-extinction type detector positioned on a side of the view volume opposite of the laser source. The laser beam strikes the target particles and thereby affects an amount of the laser beam that is incident on the detector, which produces, in response to the incident laser beam, a detection signal corresponding to a number of target particles in the view volume.
