The GUI map feature includes a map layer and a visual data layer for displaying one or more visual representations of service data associated with the network-based service. The mobile computing device is configured to determine a set of anchor coordinates for the GUI map feature and retrieve a set of service data based at least in part on the set of anchor coordinates. The set of service data can include a first set of service data associated with a map area to be illustrated by the GUI map feature and a second set of service data associated with a buffer area. The second set of service data can be retrieved based further on an image processing parameter.
