Abstract: A method, system and computer program for exchanging a message between a first electronic device and a second electronic device, wherein the devices are communicatively coupled to a messaging server when the devices are in a first state; and are configured to receive a notification from a push notification server when the devices are in a second state. The method includes transmitting the message from the first electronic device to the messaging server; receiving information related to whether the message was received by the second electronic device; and transmitting a short message service (SMS) message containing the message to the second electronic device through a SMS server if the message was not received by the second electronic device within a prescribed time. Prior to transmitting the SMS message, a query may be displayed on the first electronic device to request whether the user intends to send an SMS message containing the message to the second electronic device.

Abstract: A communication method for sending a message to an addressee using a first and second communication device of a user is disclosed. The method includes steps of, by the second communication device, determining that a message is to be sent from the user to the addressee, and sending, to the first communication device, at least part of the message; and steps of, by the first communication device, receiving, from the second communication device, the at least part of the message, and sending, to the addressee, the message with information identifying the first communication device as sender of the message. A communication method for receiving a message and replying thereto using a first and second communication device of a user is also disclosed.
