  • Patent number: 9691105
Abstract: Techniques of analyzing a calendar to generate financial information are disclosed. In some embodiments, scheduled event data for at least one scheduled event is extracted from an electronic calendar. The scheduled event data can comprise corresponding time data and text for each one of the at least one scheduled event. A financial accounting entry for each one of the at least one scheduled event can be generated based on the extracted scheduled event data. The financial accounting entry can comprise an electronic record of business-related activity that can be used for a financial accounting purpose. Generating the financial accounting entry can comprise populating the financial accounting entry using the time data of the corresponding scheduled event.

  • Publication number: 20160132907
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for generating a business forecast are described. A specification of a precision level of a forecast is obtained. Data that satisfies the specified precision level of the forecast is identified and a forecast based on the identified data that satisfies the specified precision level of the forecast is generated.

  • Patent number: 7756901
Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to enterprise planning techniques for developing an enterprise planning model that incorporate horizontal as well as vertical planning techniques. A subset of analysts associated with a common node of an enterprise hierarchy may define an enterprise planning session for the node that incorporates a plurality of enterprise planning activities. For example, a first analyst may define a sub-model for revenue planning and a second analyst may define a sub-model for salary planning. The enterprise planning system automatically aggregates the sub-models defined by subsets of analysts to obtain an enterprise-wide planning model. In this manner, the set of analysts may define an enterprise planning model that may allow large, diverse organizations to establish planning standards for multiple planning activities across dozens or hundreds of business units.

  • Patent number: 7155398
Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to techniques for developing an enterprise planning model in cascaded planning stages. For example, an enterprise planning system receives data that defines an enterprise planning session from a set of analysts in cascaded planning stages. The analysts associated with each subsequent planning stage refine the enterprise planning model defined by analysts associated with previous planning stages. In this manner, the set of analysts may define an enterprise planning model that may allow large, diverse organizations to establish planning standards across dozens or hundreds of business units, while allowing the business units to extend the planning standards to further refine the planning sessions.

  • Patent number: 7111007
Abstract: An enterprise business planning system includes a database having a relational data area and a transactional data area, and a server to store within the transactional data area contribution data received from a set of enterprise contributors. The server publishes the contribution data from the transactional data area to the relational data area. The transactional data area may include a set of contribution slots and a set of aggregations slots hierarchically related in accordance with an enterprise model. The relational area includes a set of related tables defined in accordance with the model. The transactional data area supports real-time interaction with the enterprise contributors, while the relational data area allows detailed statistical analysis and report generation.

  • Publication number: 20060155596
Abstract: The invention is directed to statistically quantifying sales opportunities in order to forecast revenue and generate solution-oriented sales plans. The system includes a database of business opportunities and associated conditions. The database represents a mathematical model, such as a Bayesian model, where the conditions and business opportunities are represented as objects within the model. A statistical engine analyzes the database and generates a probability set indicating the probability of successfully achieving the business opportunities. A network interface allows a user, using a remote computer, telephone or personal digital assistant (PDA), to communicate with the system and input data, such as the status of the particular conditions. The statistical engine adaptively adjusts the model. A marketing engine generates a sale plan as a function of the probability set. The sales plan includes a list of activities necessary to achieve each business opportunities.

  • Publication number: 20040064348
Abstract: An enterprise business planning system includes a server to an application server to execute an enterprise planning activity in accordance with a model that defines a set of enterprise users. The system further includes an extension manager to selectively deploy software extensions to the enterprise users in accordance with the model. The model may, for example, define roles for the enterprise users, and the extension manager selectively deploys the software extensions to the enterprise users based on the roles assigned to the enterprise users. As another example, enterprise model may comprises a multi-level hierarchy of related nodes, and associates the enterprise users with the nodes. The extension manager may selectively deploy the software extensions to the enterprise users based on the levels of respective nodes associated with the enterprise users.
