  • Patent number: 5009122
Abstract: A sealed cable control system having an integral, internal air transfer system constructed and arranged to provide a continuous passage comprising a series of integral, internal unrestricted passages within and through the control system to maintain a relatively uniform pressure within the boots and conduit and within the cable control system as the end members of the cable control system reciprocate. An air transfer system which includes air transfer fittings sealed to a tube therebetween to allow an efficient transfer of air within the system, thereby permitting the maintenance of a closed constant volume, constant pressure environment.

  • Patent number: 4988113
Abstract: There is provided a protective boot which provides an essentially constant volume chamber around a reciprocating shaft to prevent the inspiration of atmospheric contaminants into the area around the shaft. The boot defines a chamber, which comprises two sections, a longitudinally extendible and contractible first section and a radially extendible and contractible second section. The second section is constructed of elements or portions which flex outwardly or pop out from a neutral position in response to an increase in pressure in the section, and other portions which flex inwardly from a neutral position in response to a decrease in pressure. The portions flex outward at a predetermined pressure which is higher than the neutral or atmospheric pressure. When a pressure decrease from neutral occurs, a relatively low pressure is reached, which is sufficient to initiate the inward flexing from a neutral position of other portions of the section.

  • Patent number: 4987793
Abstract: A cable control system including an adjustment device comprising a housing, a conduit fitting member mounted for reciprocating movement within the housing and adapted to be connected to the conduit of a cable system through which a cable strand extends. A spring yieldingly urges the housing in one direction. A ratchet gear is rotatably mounted in the housing and supports a pinion gear which engages teeth on the conduit fitting member. The ratchet gear has teeth with a pitch diameter greater than the pitch diameter of the teeth on the pinion gear and the teeth on the pinion gear are larger than the teeth on the ratchet wheel so that there are a greater number of teeth on the ratchet wheel than on the pinion. A removable ratchet detent engages the teeth on the ratchet wheel. In one form, the device automatically adjusts to change the tension on the cable conduit. In another form, the device is unlocked to provide an adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4887930
Abstract: A manually controlled adjustable locking mechanism for a cable control system comprising a housing having a rectangular opening extending therethrough and a telescoping member having a rectangular cross section extending into and guided by the opening of the housing. The telescoping member has opposed transversely extending sets of teeth on opposite internal sides and external sides thereof. The housing has a rectangular opening extending transversely and intersecting the first mentioned rectangular opening. The opposed sets of teeth extend downwardly at an angle from the opening. A locking member has a substantially rectangular cross section and is positioned within the transverse opening and is manually movable between a first locking position and a second unlocking position.

  • Patent number: 4694706
Abstract: A control cable conduit length adjustment device comprising an outer detent member connected to a conduit, an inner adjuster member extending into the detent member, the adjuster member having opposed sets of ratcheting teeth and the detent member having opposed detent pawls with teeth engaging the teeth on the adjuster member. The teeth on the adjuster member are offset longitudinally so that a smaller increment of adjustment is provided. A control cable extends through the conduit and the detent and adjuster members. Resetting of the device is achieved by rotating the detent member relative to the adjuster member to disengage the teeth on the pawls and adjuster member so that the members can be moved longitudinally relative to one another.
