  • Publication number: 20240377638
Abstract: A head-mountable device can include adaptable components, which move to comfortably engage the face of the user and to exclude light from an external environment. A head-mountable device can include a light seal that includes discrete portions that bend and/or pivot as needed to conform to a face of the user. Such mobility allows the portions to be oriented with respect to corresponding regions of the face, so that an engagement surface of each portion directly engages the corresponding region of the face to maximize the surface area of contact. Such a configuration can be provided while also providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance by providing one or more covers that form continuous, breathable surfaces with the desired opacity.

  • Publication number: 20240241386
Abstract: A head-mountable device can include assemblies that provide fit adjustment capabilities when assembled together. By providing head-mountable devices with modular features, certain assemblies can provide fit adjustment capabilities without requiring other assemblies to be custom designed or available in a wide variety of sizes and/or shapes. A lens assembly can provide one or more lenses that accommodate a user's vision correction needs. The lenses can be provided in a manner that allows them to be coupled to displays of the head-mountable device, which can move as needed. The lenses can be coupled to displays to move with the displays.

  • Publication number: 20240230318
Abstract: A fitting device that can be worn by a user to facilitate detection of the user's features and guide the user to selecting components (e.g., modules) of a head-mountable device that will provide the best fit when assembled together. By providing head-mountable devices with modular features, certain modules can provide a custom fit without requiring the entire head-mountable device to be custom fitted to each user. An electronic device can be operated to guide a user to select the optimal components, such as a face seal and/or head engager for use with an HMD module.

  • Publication number: 20240069596
Abstract: A head-mounted device may include a main housing portion and displays in the main housing portion that provide images to eye boxes. A light seal may be coupled to the main housing portion and may at least partially surround the eye boxes. The head-mounted device may include sweat mitigation structures such as moisture-guiding channels in the light seal to guide sweat and other moisture away from the eye boxes. The moisture-guiding channels may be formed from grooves or moisture-wicking fabric. Control circuitry may adjust a fan based on humidity, temperature, or fog detected by a sensor. The light seal may include a directional pattern of grooves through which moisture is guided away from the eye boxes. A moisture barrier layer may be interposed between an inner foam layer and an outer light-blocking fabric to prevent sweat from penetrating into the foam.
