Abstract: A mechanism enabling a user whose user device has received a notification on messages waiting delivery, messages being deferred or waiting for another reason, to convey message-specific, possibly different handling instructions in one go to a network entity responsible for handling of the waiting messages.

Abstract: An interworking function is provided between first and second messaging domains or technologies, when original address/identities of users in the first domain and the second domain are incompatible. Upon receiving from a sender in the first messaging domain a message addressed to a recipient in the second messaging domain, the interworking function provides, for an original sender address or identity received in the message, a new sender address which is valid in the second messaging domain, and inserts the new address in a header field of the message to be forwarded to the recipient in the second messaging domain. Moreover, the interworking function adds the original sender address into the specific header field of the message either as a part of the new sender address or as an attribute.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for sending or receiving a page mode message include, for example, sending a page mode message using a session mode message mechanism with an indication indicating that a session mode is for the page mode message. A session is established for carrying the page mode message by message session relay protocol.

Abstract: Retrieving messages stored in a mail server and pending to be retrieved by a user is disclosed. A summary of the messages stored in the mail server and pending to be retrieved by the user is received at a terminal device of the user, each message associated with a unique identifier. At least one of the messages to be retrieved from the mail server is selected on the basis of the summary of messages. From the unique identifier associated with the at least one message an identifier valid for retrieval of the at least one message is determined, and a retrieval request with the identifier valid for retrieval is sent to the mail server. Upon receiving the retrieval request with the at least one identifier valid for retrieving the at least one of the stored messages, the mail server sends the at least one message towards the terminal device.

Abstract: A Conversation-ID indication, a Contribution-ID indication and an optional In-reply-to-Contribution-ID indication are contained in individual standalone CPM Messages and the CPM Session Invitation messages only. The Conversation-ID indication allows assigning the CPM messages and media to the CPM conversations. The Contribution-ID identifies the individual standalone CPM message or the CPM session Invitation. Usage of the Contribution-ID indication and the In-reply-to-Contribution-ID indication allow associating the CPM session messages and the standalone CPM messages belonging to the same CPM conversation (i.e. having the same Conversation ID) into a tree view representing the CPM Conversation. The media and CPM Messages within a CPM session is implicitly linked to the CPM session invitation and further organized based on the time to form a list.

Abstract: Arrangements for forwarding content from a message storage server to a content sharing server of a Converged IP Messaging (CPM) system are described. An HTTP PUT request is issued by a user/client to the content sharing server, with the request identifying the location of the content on the message storage server. In response to the HTTP PUT request, the content sharing server issues a request, such as an IMAP download request, to the message storage server (either directly or via an intermediary). In response, the message storage server provides the content, without that content being sent to the user device.

Abstract: A method of managing chat services in a communications system comprising the steps of: a first user terminal initiating a chat session with a session manager; said first user terminal inviting a second user terminal to join the chat session, wherein the second user terminal is associated with a blocklist of blocked users that are blocked from communicating with the second user terminal; checking if a third user terminal invited to join the chat session by the first user terminal is listed in the blocklist; and in the event that the third user terminal is in the blocklist, creating a notification message to notify a user of the second user terminal that a blocked user is joining the chat session.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for page-mode messaging. The method includes determining whether a page-mode message exceeds a predetermined size limit. The method further includes sending, using a terminal, the page-mode message using a session-mode messaging mechanism when it is determined that the page-mode message exceeds the predetermined size limit, with an indication indicating that a session-mode is for the page-mode message. Further, the method includes applying, using the terminal, a session description protocol to initiate a session in the session-mode messaging mechanism, and adding, using the terminal, the indication to a header of a session initiation message.

Abstract: A system and method for indicating user information in a conference event package. An extension is added to the current conference event package in various embodiments of the present invention. This extension adds a new attribute to user information, including an indicator that explicitly indicates to a user that certain information is the user's own information. Therefore, when a user desiring anonymity joins a conference and then subscribes to the conference event package in order to obtain the roster, the conference lists one of the participants with an indicator that indicates to the user that this particular participant is the user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for stored message delivery are taught. The method and apparatus can be configured to accomplish the steps of receiving a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message, as a received SIP message, encapsulating the received SIP message in a Message Session Relay Protocol (MSRP) message, as an encapsulated SIP message; and transmitting the encapsulated SIP message to an intended recipient.

Abstract: Establishing a data communications session involves determining a personal characteristic associated with a user of a terminal. A predetermined criterion for allowing establishment of the data communications session based on the personal characteristic is obtained. A token is embedded in a signaling message used to establish the data communications session. The token represents at least one of the personal characteristic and the predetermined criterion. The signaling message is communicated with a network entity capable of allowing users to establish the data communications session. The data communications session is established via the network entity if the personal characteristic satisfies the predetermined criterion.

Abstract: A method of deleting an item from a user account in a SIP multimedia environment. When an item such as an instant message is to be deleted, a SIP REFER message is transmitted from a user device to delete the item from the user account, with the message including a unique identifier for the item. In response to the transmitted request, an SIP INVITE session is established between a virtual agent and a network-based deleted items location. After the SIP INVITE session is established, the item is transferred from the user account to the network-based deleted items location and is deleted from the user account.
