  • Patent number: 4198581
Abstract: An emitter-coupled differential comparator compares a horizontal rate ramp signal with a vertical-frequency parabola in a television context for producing horizontal rate pulses duration-modulated at the vertical rate. The comparator is arranged to compensate for a temperature-dependent differential-mode component of the signal sources. The compensation is provided by a temperature-responsive element coupled in the emitter circuit of one of the emitter coupled transistors.

  • Patent number: 4166964
Abstract: A current source supplies a constant current to a node leading to two parallel branch circuits. The first, comprising a plurality of series connected semiconductor junctions, connects to the input terminal of a current mirror amplifier (CMA) and the second branch circuit comprising the emitter-to-collector path of a transistor, connects to the output terminal of the CMA. An input signal applied to the base of the transistor causes the constant current to steer mainly into the first branch circuit when the signal exceeds a threshold level and mainly into the second branch circuit when the signal is lower than this threshold level. The output signal, which is available at the output terminal of the CMA, comprises a current at a relatively low voltage level which, in one case, is supplied to, and in the other is withdrawn from, the load circuit connected to this terminal.

  • Patent number: 4164687
Abstract: A television switched synchronous vertical deflection (SSVD) circuit produces vertical deflection current by integration of horizontal retrace pulses. Vertical retrace blanking is provided by a monostable multivibrator triggered from the vertical synchronizing signals, and coupled to the kinescope to provide blanking in its unstable state and to unblank in its stable state. Failure of the horizontal retrace pulse supply to the SSVD circuit causes vertical deflection to cease, resulting in a line across the center of the screen. An inhibiting circuit coupled to the multivibrator feedback loop and to the horizontal retrace pulse supply prevents the multivibrator from assuming its stable state except during the presence of a horizontal retrace pulse.

  • Patent number: 4160944
Abstract: A current amplifier of the type having the principal conduction paths of first and second transistors connecting the input and output terminals respectively of the current amplifier to its common terminal, with a direct-coupled feedback connection between the input terminal and an interconnection of the control electrodes of the first and second transistors, is provided with capability for selectively providing or not providing current gain between its input and output terminals. To this end, a third transistor of complementary conductivity type has its principal conduction path included in the direct coupled feedback connection, being arranged to have its control electrode selectively clamped to the common terminal of the current amplifier to cause the current amplifier to exhibit current gain between its input and output terminals.

  • Patent number: 4160201
Abstract: Improved voltage regulators of a type wherein a feedback network is used for developing an error signal having a magnitude dependent upon the degree to which a portion of the voltage being regulated departs from a voltage proportional to the extrapolated bandgap potential of the material from which first and second semiconductor junctions in the network are formed. More particularly, this error signal is generated at the output of a differential-input amplifier which differentially compares (a) a relatively large reference potential (m+n) times the offset potential across the first semiconductor junction, and (b) a relatively small reference potential m times the offset potential across the second semiconductor junction, augmented by a portion of the voltage being regulated. The factor m is a positive number at least unity; and the factor n, a positive number less than unity.

  • Patent number: 4140977
Abstract: These circuits include a current mirror amplifier (CMA) having an input (master) transistor and at least one output (slave) transistor. The signal translation input circuit comprises a third transistor having a base-emitter junction connected between the input and common terminals of the CMA and a signal voltage input terminal at the collector of the third transistor. The output current of the mirror is a function of the signal voltage applied to this signal voltage input terminal.

  • Patent number: 4134046
Abstract: A delayed transition kinescope blanking pulse generator has a switch controlled by the deflection synchronizing pulses. The switch is coupled to a terminal of an energy storage means having a time constant. The switch changes the coupling of an energizing source to the energy storage means. A comparator coupled to the energy storage means and to a reference produces a blanking pulse having a transition the delay of which is determined by the time constant.

  • Patent number: 4126815
Abstract: A delayed transition kinescope blanking pulse generator has a capacitor supplied with charging current from a first current source. A switched second current source controlled by the blanking cycle initiation pulse provides a discharging current greater than the charging current. The capacitor is initially uncharged. When the blanking cycle is initiated the second controlled current source is turned off and the capacitor charges. When the capacitor ramp voltage reaches a particular value after a charging delay a voltage-sensitive switch produces a kinescope blanking pulse. When the blanking cycle initiation pulse ends, the second current source turns on and discharges the capacitor. A current-sensitive switch responsive to the discharge current maintains the kinescope blanking pulse until the capacitor is discharged.

  • Patent number: RE29910
Abstract: A current mirror amplifier circuit with an input current path and an output current path is further provided with a sensing means responsive to the cessation of current flow in the output current path such that the cessation of current flow in the output current path causes the current flow in the input current path to be discontinued.

  • Patent number: RE30173
Abstract: A current mirror amplifier in which the potentials appearing across the principal conduction paths of its master and slave transistors are maintained substantially the same. This is done by a differential-input, single-ended output amplifier, which is connected as a non-inverting amplifier in the direct-coupled feedback connection that conditions the master transistor to conduct applied input current via its principal conduction path.
