    Abstract: A process for preparing polypropylene and its copolymers of high melt strength while is kept melt index suitable for processing is described, the polypropylene and its copolymers being modified by grafting with high molecular weight portions and crosslinking with free radicals, both modifications being promoted by high energy ionizing radiation used at low doses in the presence of an atmosphere that contains crosslinking promoting gases, the polypropylene and its copolymers optionally containing stabilizing substances dispersed in the amorphous phase.
