  • Publication number: 20240134724
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media for a service manger to manage services on a wearable device are disclosed. The service manager remains active in memory and listens for requests for services. The service manager then determines which services to run and which to stop to respond to the requests for services. After running a service, the service manager calls the service to respond to the request and sends a response to the request to the sender of the request. The service manager may be resident on a different processor than a processor from which the requests for services originate. The service manager maintains priorities of the services to determine which services to stop or remove from memory.

  • Publication number: 20240061686
Abstract: A method of activating a head-worn device is disclosed. The method includes activating the head-worn device and performing a partial bootup. When an user-input instruction to perform a function is received, it is determined whether or not the user-input instruction is permitted for partial bootup execution. The user-input instruction is executed based on the user-input instruction being permitted for partial bootup execution, and a bootup of the head-work device is completed based on the user-input instruction not being permitted for partial bootup execution. The method may further comprise determining if the user-input instruction requires user authentication in order to be executed, and based on the user-input instruction being partial bootup compatible and not requiring user authentication, executing the user-input instruction.

  • Patent number: 10444962
Abstract: Presented here are systems and methods to enable software applications to display images on irregular screen shapes containing the shape without display functionality. In one embodiment, the shape without display functionality is confined within a bounding shape, which, when subtracted from the irregular screen shape leaves a rectangular area of the screen where the image can be displayed. The area within the bounding shape can be occupied by images provided by the operating system associated with the irregular screen, such as a status bar and/or navigation bar. In another embodiment, the image can be displayed on the full irregular screen, such that the shape without display functionality covers a part of the image. When the occluded part of the image contains a critical object, such as a menu item, a button, etc., the image can be modified to move the critical object out of the area occluded by the shape without display functionality.

  • Patent number: 10348871
Abstract: Disclosed here are systems and methods which enable high-bandwidth communication between a mobile device and an accessory. The high-bandwidth communication uses electromagnetic waves in the extremely high frequency range between 30 GHz and 300 GHz inclusive, also known as millimeter waves. The millimeter waves travel through at least the chassis of the accessory and the chassis of the mobile device without significant scattering and attenuation. The properties of the materials through which the millimeter waves travel determine the attenuation of the millimeter waves. Disclosed here are various materials, and their thicknesses, which form a transmission stack through which the millimeter waves can travel unimpeded. In effect, the transmission stack acts as a dielectric member which facilitates the transmission of the millimeter waves, while attenuating transmission of waves outside of the extremely high frequency range.
