  • Publication number: 20230071066
Abstract: Method and apparatus for generating and controlling pulses in a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system. An opto-mechanical phase shifter (OMPS) device has an array of unit cells supported by a semiconductor substrate. Each unit cell includes a resonator extending between opposing first and second doped regions and a flexible layer extending above the resonator separated by an intervening gap. Application of voltage across the doped regions establishes an electric field that extends through the resonator and controllably deforms the flexible layer to direct a beam of light in a desired direction and with a desired phase. A detector derives range information associated with a target illuminated by the directed beam of light. The derived range information can be used to adjust the voltage(s) applied to the OMPS device. Each unit cell can be independently activated and controlled, or groups of unit cells can be operated as a set.

  • Publication number: 20230021576
Abstract: Method and apparatus for enhancing resolution in a light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system. In some embodiments, an emitter emits light in the form of multiplexed beams of randomized, multiple wavelengths across a field of view (FoV). A detector uses one or more detection channels to detect the multiplexed beams reflected from a target within the FoV to decode range information associated with the target. The multiplexed beams may be generated by multiple light sources such as laser diodes, or a single source such as a frequency comb device. Randomization may be applied via a pseudorandom bit sequence modulator, and multiplexing/demultiplexing may be performed using waveguides and micro-resonance rings (MRRs). The multiplexed beam may be emitted using an optical phase array (OPA) integrated circuit device to scan the FoV simultaneously using the different wavelengths. The range information can be used to adaptively adjust the wavelengths in a subsequent scan.

  • Publication number: 20230012458
Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for identifying transaction processing retry attempts based on machine learning models for transaction success. A service provider, such as an electronic transaction processor for digital transactions, may detect a failure of data processing for a transaction when processed with a separate data processing system, such as a card processing system for payment cards. In order to minimize cost and wasted resources for retrying transactions that are likely to further fail, a machine learning model may be implements that generates a predictive score for whether a failed transaction is likely to be successful if retried with the data processing system. The predictive score may be used to predict a probability of success, which may then be used with a cost function to determine a cost to retry the failed transaction and a cost to stop a retry of the failed transaction.

  • Patent number: 11550608
Abstract: Guest-to-host virtual networking can include linking a virtual entity proxy to a network adapter of a host machine through a virtual bridge. In response to a request that starts a guest running on the host machine, the guest can be configured to point to the virtual entity proxy and to communicatively couple to a network through the virtual entity proxy linked to the network adapter of the host machine. The virtual entity proxy can be bound to the network, such that the virtual entity proxy intermediates communications between the guest and one or more other guests running on one or more different host machines that are also communicatively coupled to the network.

  • Publication number: 20230005504
Abstract: Apparatus and method for transferring data in a data storage system, such as but not limited to a hard disc drive (HDD). An optical link is provided between an analog front end (AFE) of a data storage device controller circuit (SOC) and a preamplifier/driver circuit (preamp) mounted to a rotary actuator to transfer an analog domain signal. A selected component is extracted from the signal using a modulation element such as a micro-resonance ring (MRR) or a Mach-Zehnder Interferometer Modulation (MZM) device. The extracted component is forwarded to a processing circuit to facilitate a transfer of data between a local memory and a non-volatile memory (NVM). The optical link includes a flexible portion in a flex circuit affixed to the rotary actuator and which supports the preamp. Multiplexed read, write, and power control signals are concurrently transmitted via the optical link. The link can concurrently service multiple head-disc assemblies (HDAs).

  • Patent number: 11427409
Abstract: Embodiments herein provide automated bin packing of heterogeneous objects to fill maximum number of objects in an available bin space in an efficient manner. Conventional methods are less efficient in packing heterogeneous objects in a space and time efficient manner. The apparatus receives a plurality of 3D objects through a primary conveyor and diverts each of the plurality of 3D objects to an identified cuboidal bin through a corresponding secondary conveyor. Each of the plurality of 3D objects are diverted based on a tracking code associated with each of the plurality of 3D objects and a computed available bin space of the identified cuboidal bin corresponding to each of the plurality of 3D objects. Here the available bin space is computed based on a bin space information received from a corresponding bin vision sensor and a corresponding state space of the identified cuboidal bin.
