  • Patent number: 5478578
Abstract: In order to control and optimize the amount of inhalable active substance released when drugs are administered as inhalation powders, the invention calls for the use of auxiliaries consisting of mixtures of coarser particles (average particle size>20 .mu.m) and finer particles (average particle size<10 .mu.m).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 15, 1994
Date of Patent: December 26, 1995
    Assignee: Boehringer Ingelheim KG
Inventors: Klaus Arnold, Peter Grass, Adolf Knecht, Robert Roos, Gerhard Sluke, Herbet Thieme, Joachim Wenzel
  • Patent number: 4944433
Abstract: A metering valve for a pressurized dispensing container. The container is intended to operate in the inverted position. An element having a raised peripheral portion is provided about the valve housing which substantially closes the space between the wall of the container and the valve housing. The element prevents the settling of active substances of the material being dispensed in the region of the inlet opening of the metering valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 30, 1989
Date of Patent: July 31, 1990
    Assignee: Boehringer Ingelheim KG
Inventors: Adolf Knecht, Ottfried Daab, Hans-Hermann Weil
  • Patent number: 4915957
Abstract: A process for the preparation of an antacid material prepared from magnesium aluminum hydroxide, wherein magnesium hydroxide and/or magnesium oxide is reacted in an atomic ratio of magnesium to aluminum of 1:1 to 3:1 with an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate until the pH of the reaction mixture is from 4.0 to 8.0, whereafter water-soluble components are removed from the mixture is known manner and this is isolated and, if desired, dried is described as well as a new embodiment of the formula [Mg.sub.5 Al.sub.10 (OH).sub.26 O.sub.5 ](SO.sub.4).sub.2 .multidot.nH.sub.2 O. Also described are pharmaceutical compositions containing such antacid material, in admixture with a conventional pharmaceutical adjuvant, and a method of combating hyperacidity and gastrointestinal diseases, which comprises administering such antacid material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 1984
Date of Patent: April 10, 1990
    Assignee: Godecke Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Michael Schneider, Adolf Knecht
  • Patent number: 4612310
Abstract: Antirheumatically active suppositories with comparable bioavailability to oral or parenteral preparations are described, which contain a salt of a compound of general Formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents a heterocyclic ring and X together with Y an annelated aromatic ring; and an organic base of the general Formula IIR.sup.2 --NH--CH.sub.2 --(CHOH).sub.4 --CH.sub.2 OHin which R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with one to six carbon atoms, especially a methyl, ethyl, or propyl group; in a usual suppository base, are described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 19, 1985
Date of Patent: September 16, 1986
    Assignee: Warner-Lambert Company
    Inventor: Adolf Knecht
  • Patent number: 4608248
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the timed control of the liberation of active material from a retarded active material-containing composition by the addition of a hydrophilic polymer, wherein the rate of liberation is adjusted by means of the viscosity of the added hydrophilic polymer, the rate of liberation increasing with increasing viscosity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 24, 1986
Date of Patent: August 26, 1986
    Assignee: Warner-Lambert Company
    Inventors: Adolf Knecht, Helmut Augart
  • Patent number: 4482554
Abstract: The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition containing at least one oxicam derivative of the general formula: ##STR1## in which R is a heterocyclic ring and X together with Y represent a condensed aromatic ring, together with a more than equimolar amount of an organic base of the general formula:R--NH--CH.sub.2 --(CHOH).sub.n --CH.sub.2 OH (II),in which R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing up to 6 carbon atoms and n is 3 or 4.

  • Patent number: 4482542
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of an antacid material based upon magnesium aluminium hydroxide, wherein magnesium hydroxide and/or magnesium oxide is reacted in an atomic ratio of magnesium to aluminium of 1:1 to 3:1 with an aqueous solution of aluminium sulphate until the pH of the reaction mixture is from 4.0 to 8.0, whereafter water-soluble components are removed from the mixture in known manner and this is isolated and, if desired, dried. The present invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions containing an antacid material prepared by this process, in admixture with a conventional pharmaceutical adjuvant.Furthermore, the present invention provides a method of combating hyperacidity and gastrointestinal diseases, which comprises administering an antacid material prepared by the above process.
