  • Patent number: 5470361
Abstract: In the process for gasification of municipal waste plastic waste material pieces of about a 20 mm piece size are compressed and heated at a pressure of from 40 to 80 bar until at a temperature of from 230.degree. to 300.degree. C. to produce an HCl-containing gas and a plastic waste material containing less than 3000 mg of HCl per kg and the HCl-containing gas produced is washed with water to produce a hydrochloric acid solution. The plastic waste material is then heated further until at a temperature of from 400.degree. to 500.degree. C. to form a plastic melt having a viscosity of less than 300 cSt, advantageously less than 50 cSt. This plastic melt is gasified at a pressure of 4 bar with oxygen in a flame reaction to form a crude gas containing a preponderant proportion of CO in relation to CO.sub.2 in a gasification chamber having a central temperature of about 1600.degree. C. The crude gas is withdrawn from the gasification reactor at a temperature of 1300.degree. to 1600.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4973337
Abstract: The arrangement for cooling a hot product gas containing adhesive or fusible particles which lose their adhesiveness during cooling, has a reactor for producing the hot product gas, a cooling duct connected with the reactor for the hot product gas, a nozzle ring subdivided into a plurality of chambers mounted adjacent to and communicating with the cooling duct, each of the chambers being structured to introduce a different ring-shaped jet of cooling fluid into the hot product gas in the cooling duct. The different ring-shaped jets are producible with mass and penetration depths according to the mass of a product gas stream flowing in a cooling zone of the cooling duct with injection speeds selected to obtain a predetermined penetration depth. Using different penetration depths for the different ring-shaped jets allows avoidance of baked deposits on the walls of the reactor and cooling duct.

  • Patent number: 4954136
Abstract: A method for cooling a hot product gas containing adhesive or fusible particles include injecting a ring-shaped jet of a cooling fluid into a gas to be cooled in a cooling zone in a flow direction of the gas, with separation of the jet into a plurality of individual cooling fluid jets with mass and penetration depths corresponding to the mass of product gas streams flowing through individual ring-shaped parts of the cooling zone. The injection speed of the cooling fluid jets are selected so as to obtain a desired penetration depth.

  • Patent number: 4936870
Abstract: The process for determining and controlling the fuel mass flow in partial oxidation and gasification of a fine-grained to powdery fuel includes particularly drawing the fuel from the supply vessel through a single outlet pipe and feeding the fuel to a distributor, in which a plurality of individual supply lines are connected to the individual burners, the fuel mass flow rate in the supply lines depending on the speed measured there and the radiometric density measurement being determined in the outlet pipe of the supply vessel. For control of the fuel mass flow a stepwise regulation depending on the crude gas flow produced in the gasification unit is thus provided.

  • Patent number: 4825638
Abstract: In an electric energy generating plant including a coal gasification arrangement and a combined gas turbine and steam combine, hot raw gas generated in the gasification arrangement is fed via a heat-exchanging and dust separating unit into a desulfurization unit from which cool purified gas is discharged. The heat exchanging unit includes a tubular pressure resistant housing serving as a feeding passage for the hot raw gas and enclosing a coaxial arrangement of a tubular pipe-wall housing of a waste-heat recovery boiler, and pipe spirals of a raw gas/purified gas heat exchanger. The waste-heat recovery boiler delivers superheated steam to the steam turbine and the raw gas/purified gas heat exchanger delivers heated purified gas to the gas turbine.

  • Patent number: 4765631
Abstract: A stuffing box sealing arrangement for sealing a rotary shaft which extends into a pressure space includes two separate consecutive pressure chambers arranged at axially spaced locations along the shaft and an intervening space sealed with respect to the exterior of the arrangement and the pressure space and arranged between the pressure chambers. A plurality of stuffing sealing rings is accommodated in each of the pressure chambers and two glands are provided each being arranged around the shaft at one of the locations in registry with the respective associated plurality of stuffing sealing rings. Each of the glands is independently pressed against the respective associated plurality of stuffing sealing rings, and lubrication water is supplied into the intervening space to continuously lubricate both pluralities of stuffing sealing rings.

  • Patent number: 4632766
Abstract: In a method of treating waste water obtained in a direct washing with water of raw gas in a plant for a gasification of gas, the waste water is first settled in a settling tank and a resultant concentrated slime-containing water is subjected to a multi-stage oxidation with air or oxygen only at the temperatures of between 20.degree. C., and 80.degree. C., and the slime-containing water obtained after the oxidation is conveyed to a filtration system or a slime-depositing container.

  • Patent number: 4270558
Abstract: A pneumatic or electrical signal indicating the flow mass of a fine-grained fuel suspended in a carrier gas is produced by computer means. The input for the computer is constituted by the quantity determined for the volume of the carrier gas and the quantity determined for the density of the carrier gas together with the quantity determined as the specific weight of the fuel and the quantity determined by a radiometric measurement of the total density of the fuel and carrier gas flow. The computer is programmed to produce the above signal on the basis of a mathematical relationship defined in the above text. A valve controlling the feed of fuel into a gasifier is operated by the signal produced by the computer.
