  • Patent number: 10906078
Abstract: An apparatus for winding up a metal strip into a coil. A frame in which a second counter-bending roller is mounted in a rotatable manner. The frame is movable with the aid of a second setting device between a coiler shaft position and a roller bed position. In the roller bed position, the second counter-bending roller alongside a first counter-bending roller acts as the roller bed roller of a roller bed which is arranged above the coiling device.

  • Patent number: 8429943
Abstract: When rolling hot-rolled strips, different draughts per pass might occur during the rolling operation over the length of the roll gap, due to changes in the hardness of the rolling stock, to the roll gap itself or to the geometry of the incoming rolling stock. These different draughts per pass lead to lateral deviations and shifts of the rolling stock in the roll stand and to a lateral bending of the outgoing hot-rolled strip. In order to avoid these defects by intentionally influencing the geometry of the rough-rolled strip, it is proposed to interconnect in at least one roughing-down stand a dynamic positioning in the roughing-down stock (1) with fast and powerful lateral guides (8,9) arranged before and after the roughing-down stand (1), by corresponding regulation operations, in such a way that a grainy or tapering bloom (4) is shaped into a straight and taper-free roughed-down strip (5) in one or more passes, in continuous or reciprocating operation.

  • Publication number: 20090184191
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for rolling up a metallic strip (1), in particular a steel strip, to a coil (2), the strip (1) being kept under longitudinal tension between a driver (3), consisting of at least one driver top roll (4) and at least one driver bottom roll (5), and a winding pin (6). The strip (1) is rolled up on the winding pin (6) to form the coil (2). In order to prevent the undesired opening of the wound coil in a simple manner, a bending moment (MB) is initiated in the strip, said bending moment acting perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the strip (1) and causing a plastic deformation when a defined remaining length of the strip (1) is reached. The invention also relates to a device for rolling up a metallic strip.

  • Patent number: 6993951
Abstract: A hot-rolling stand including blocks arranged in the stand windows and having hydraulic piston cylinder units provided as bending devices which are able to transfer bending forces via guide elements onto the chocks of the working rolls. For each block a double-acting hydraulic piston cylinder unit is provided whose two ends are connected with the guide elements. The guide elements have guide that engage both sides of the free ends of noses of the working roll chocks so as to permit axial movement of the working rolls.

  • Patent number: 6364242
Abstract: A rotor winder and a method for operating the rotor winder, wherein the rotor winder has two rotors supported in a rotatable rotor with two winders which are driven independently from one another and are provided for successive continuous winding of hot strip. Each winder has a winder mandrel including several moveable segments for expanding the winder mandrel, wherein the segments are supported on axially moveable wedge-shaped gliding surfaces. The winders are moveable in cycles from an initial position into the coil transfer position by rotation of the rotor. A device is provided for guiding an incoming hot strip onto the winder mandrel of the winder positioned in the initial position and for holding the strip on the winder mandrel until a slip-free engagement of the strip is effected. The device for guiding and placing the incoming strip is arranged on a power-driven frame mounted so as to be moveable in a direction extending parallel to the axis of the winder.

  • Patent number: 6283403
Abstract: The invention relates to a strip winder (1) for winding a hot or cold strip (25) into a coil, comprising a winder mandrel (2), pressure rolls (6-8) which can be in the form of comb rolls (6′-8′) deflection cups (9-11), and a feed shaft (20). The aim of the invention is to improve a strip winder of this type so that a hot or cold strip (25) can be wound securely on the winder mandrel (2) even at high speeds and when the strip is thin. To that end, the deflection cups (9-11) have channels (18) whose outlet openings (19) are located in the cup area and the channels (18) are connected to a medium supply system.

  • Patent number: 5735164
Abstract: An upsetting tool of a pair of upsetting tools for the deformation of continuously cast slabs in a slab upsetting press is composed of two connecting rods which are driven through two eccentric shafts and which support the upsetting tool and guide the upsetting tool in parallel direction. Hinged to the connecting rods is a piston/cylinder unit for producing a movement of the upsetting tool synchronously with the slab movement on a roller table. The upsetting tool has upsetting surfaces for acting on one of the two longitudinal sides of the slab. The upsetting surfaces extend parallel or inclined relative to the direction of movement of the slab. The upsetting surfaces are located next to one another so as to form edges extending transversely of the direction of movement of the slab, wherein upsetting surfaces inclined away from the longitudinal side surfaces of the slab are arranged following or possibly in front of an upsetting surface extending parallel to the travel direction of the slab.

  • Patent number: 5732590
Abstract: A supporting frame of a slab upsetting press includes a supporting frame for receiving a pair of upsetting slides and tool slides connected to the pair of upsetting slides. The supporting frame includes two housing beams supporting the pair of upsetting slides and, arranged spaced above the housing beams supporting the pair of upsetting slides, two additional housing beams, and connecting beams which connect the respective ends of the housing beams and receive the bearings of the screw-down spindles or the balancing pistons. The individual housing beams form independent structural elements, wherein the housing beams arranged one above the other form a pair of housing beams whose ends have plane side surfaces which can be placed on corresponding plane side surfaces of crossheads which are also constructed as independent structural components and receive the bearings of the screw-down spindles and can be connected by screws to the crossheads.

  • Patent number: 4832581
Abstract: In a diaphgram pump with a diaphragm that separates a delivery chamber from a work-chamber filled entirely with fluid medium, and with a piston chamber which is connected to the diaphragm work-chamber by way of at least two passages and in which a displacement piston is reciprocatingly movable to effect the oscillatory actuation of the diaphragm, with the passages for flushing out gas bubbles shaped in such a manner that the mean velocity of flow in each single passage is always aimed in one stroke direction. The arrangement and shape of the passages connecting the work-chamber with the piston chamber is provided here in such a manner that the total resistance to flow of all the passages, made up of the parallel resistances of the individual passages, is different in one direction of flow than that in the other direction of flow, and that thereby there results in all passages a total transport flow for any gas bubbles contained in the fluid medium.

  • Patent number: 4273919
Abstract: A process for preparing coating powders based on polylaurolactam for the vitrification coating process beginning with polylaurolactam granulates obtained by polymerizing laurolactam under internal pressure in the presence of 2 to 10% by wt. of water and 0.3 to 0.7% by wt. of phosphoric acid at temperatures between 265.degree. and 300.degree. C., in the absence of chain stabilizers, and which have a relative viscosity of between 1.50 and 1.80. After precooling to temperatures between -50.degree. and 0.degree. C., the granulates are ground and then graded. Extraction with methanol or ethanol is carried out prior to grinding or grading. Pigments are added to the monomerous laurolactam or to the polylaurolactam in the molten state prior to granulation. The powders are especially well suited to manufacture colored powders by the dry-blend process.
