  • Patent number: 5735164
Abstract: An upsetting tool of a pair of upsetting tools for the deformation of continuously cast slabs in a slab upsetting press is composed of two connecting rods which are driven through two eccentric shafts and which support the upsetting tool and guide the upsetting tool in parallel direction. Hinged to the connecting rods is a piston/cylinder unit for producing a movement of the upsetting tool synchronously with the slab movement on a roller table. The upsetting tool has upsetting surfaces for acting on one of the two longitudinal sides of the slab. The upsetting surfaces extend parallel or inclined relative to the direction of movement of the slab. The upsetting surfaces are located next to one another so as to form edges extending transversely of the direction of movement of the slab, wherein upsetting surfaces inclined away from the longitudinal side surfaces of the slab are arranged following or possibly in front of an upsetting surface extending parallel to the travel direction of the slab.

  • Patent number: 5732590
Abstract: A supporting frame of a slab upsetting press includes a supporting frame for receiving a pair of upsetting slides and tool slides connected to the pair of upsetting slides. The supporting frame includes two housing beams supporting the pair of upsetting slides and, arranged spaced above the housing beams supporting the pair of upsetting slides, two additional housing beams, and connecting beams which connect the respective ends of the housing beams and receive the bearings of the screw-down spindles or the balancing pistons. The individual housing beams form independent structural elements, wherein the housing beams arranged one above the other form a pair of housing beams whose ends have plane side surfaces which can be placed on corresponding plane side surfaces of crossheads which are also constructed as independent structural components and receive the bearings of the screw-down spindles and can be connected by screws to the crossheads.

  • Patent number: 4832581
Abstract: In a diaphgram pump with a diaphragm that separates a delivery chamber from a work-chamber filled entirely with fluid medium, and with a piston chamber which is connected to the diaphragm work-chamber by way of at least two passages and in which a displacement piston is reciprocatingly movable to effect the oscillatory actuation of the diaphragm, with the passages for flushing out gas bubbles shaped in such a manner that the mean velocity of flow in each single passage is always aimed in one stroke direction. The arrangement and shape of the passages connecting the work-chamber with the piston chamber is provided here in such a manner that the total resistance to flow of all the passages, made up of the parallel resistances of the individual passages, is different in one direction of flow than that in the other direction of flow, and that thereby there results in all passages a total transport flow for any gas bubbles contained in the fluid medium.

  • Patent number: 4233997
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a rib-rolling mechanism for processing tobacco ribs and includes a pair of relatively rotatable rollers having peripheral surfaces defining therebetween a throat through which it is adapted to pass tobacco, the rollers having shafts, the shafts of the first of the rollers being journaled for rotation in fixed bearings and the shafts of the second of the rollers being journaled for rotation in movable bearings, a device for resiliently urging the second roller toward the first roller, the latter device including a rod connected to each of the movable bearings, a sleeve in external telescopic relationship to each of the rods, springs coupled between each of the sleeves and the second roller for urging the latter toward the first roller, and elements for axially shifting the rods to vary the force exerted by the springs in a direction to urge the second roller toward the first roller.

  • Patent number: 3958480
Abstract: Longitudinal shear for rolled sheet metal, particularly heavy plate, which operates perpendicular to the plane of the sheet, whereby the sheet can be gradually divided into two parallel strips by the action of successive partial cuts of a certain length; the sheet is made to move forwardly intermittently by means of drivers located before and after the shears and at least during each cutting stroke kept from shifting by the action of at least one pair of holding rollers located across the cut line.
