  • Patent number: 4693463
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for the lateral registration and registration in the feed direction of sheets which are fed in a sheet stream across a feed table to a sheet treating machine, e.g. a printing press. They stretch out the sheet transversely to the feed direction. The apparatus includes two suction plates arranged at a distance one from another at right angles to the feed direction, which are each respectively drivable in rotation about an axis. By use of suction openings which can be subjected to suction, the respective frontmost sheet of the sheet stream can be grasped in the region of its front edge and moved to bring its side edge to lie against a side stop and to bring its front edge to lie against a front stop. In accordance with the invention, one suction plate is drivable rotatably in a first rotational sense and the second suction plate in the opposite rotational sense.

  • Patent number: 4618135
Abstract: The invention relates to a sheet feeder for the individual feeding of sheets to a sheet treating machine. A first sheet pile is carried by a main pile table, and sheets from this sheet pile can be fed by a sheet separating device, optionally via a first feed table, to the sheet treating machine. A further sheet pile is carried by an auxiliary pile table. Sheets can be fed by a second sheet separating device from this further sheet pile to the sheet treating machine, again optionally via a second feed table. Using this arrangement, in place of the sheets from the first pile table, sheets from the auxiliary pile table can be fed to the sheet treating machine without interruption, as the sheet feed from the two piles is carried out in the same rhythm. Preferably a control circuit is used to meter out a selected number of prerun sheets from the auxiliary pile table followed without interruption by another selected number of continuous running sheets.

  • Patent number: 3937457
Abstract: This sheet feeder apparatus is provided with pick-up heads for the sheets which heads are tiltable in at least one plane or in two planes automatically during the operation of the apparatus to properly align and/or stretch the sheets as they are picked-up from a stack and advanced for further handling. Thus, the pick-up heads are supported on support blocks and spring biased whereby the biasing forces tend to pull a sheet into proper alignment and/or to stretch a sheet without damaging the sheet.

  • Patent number: 3931964
Abstract: This sheet feeder apparatus employs sheet lifting suction heads which are raised by the pneumatic suction which simultaneously lifts a sheet from a stack. A spring, preferably inside each lifting suction head, lowers its telescoping suction nozzle in response to the movement of a cam and spring operated hold-up bar, which simultaneously synchronizes the downward movement of a pair of suction nozzles after delaying such downward movement long enough for the trailing edge of a sheet to clear the path of travel of the suction nozzle.
