  • Patent number: 6371750
Abstract: A device for smoothing and cooling of a material sheet (8) of thermoplastic, especially a film or sheet which are processed into plates which have been extruded by an extruder via a sheet die. Two pairs of units (2, 3; 4, 5) are provided which oppose each other and act on the surfaces (9, 10) of the material sheet (8). The units each have an active area (11) to contact the material sheet (8) forming part of the metal belt (12). The lower surface of the metal belt (12) is coolable in areas below the active area (11). The metal belt (12) is guided over a driving roll (20), which is drivable. The units provide a universal temperature profile, which is achieved over the thickness of a material sheet (8) while cooling and smoothing the sheet. Accordingly, stress differences are prevented.

  • Patent number: 6210145
Abstract: A calender for thermoplastic material sheets has a frame (1) with rolls (8, 9, 14) for smoothing and cooling the thermoplastic material sheets. The rolls (8, 9, 14) are coupled with the frame (1). The roll (8) is held rotatably stationary. The rotatable roll (9) is radially adjustable with respect to the stationary roll (8). Additionally, the adjustable roll (14) is circumferenitially adjustable around the axis of rotation (X) of the stationary roll by guide cars (15, 16). The guide cars (15, 16) are provided at both ends on circular running paths of guide rails (2′, 2″, 3′, 3″). The guide rails (2′, 2″, 3′, 3″) are connected to the frame or are part of it. Accordingly, a rigid support is achieved for the adjustable roll (14). Furthermore, an advantageous ease of access to the area of intake of the material sheet from the sheet die (B) into the calender is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5516206
Abstract: A loading device for kneaders, screw-type extruding machines or the like, having at least one feed chute and at least one tamping tool, wherein the feed chute is provided with at least one loading opening, the feed chute is bent--completely or partially--in the shape of a circular arc, as is the tamping tool. The tamping tool is seated to pivot around a pivot point that forms the mid-point of the circular arc-shaped bend. Because of this, the front plate of the tamping tool follows a circular arc-shaped path of movement.

  • Patent number: 4028031
Abstract: A screw extruder-calender assemblage consists of a screw extruder and a pair of calender rolls disposed adjacent to the discharge end of the extruder and normal to the lengthwise axis thereof. An equalization chamber between the extruder discharge end and the input side of the calender rolls is formed by the discharge crosswise end of the extruder, peripheral positions of the calender rolls and two side walls; the crosswise width of the chamber adjacent to the calender being equal to the length of the working gap. The quantity of material in this chamber during operation varies with variations in the output of the extruder but always provides a quantity of material sufficient to assure uniform output from the calender rolls.
