Publication number: 20100123263Abstract: The present invention is a twinsheet door which includes a first door portion and a second door portion connected to the first door portion. The twinsheet door of the present invention is manufactured using a thermoforming process, during which a vacuum shapes the first door portion and the second door portion such that one or more closed sections are created when the first door portion is thermally bonded to the second door portion and simultaneously a vacuum is applied to form the first door portion and said second door portion. The closed section formed between the first door portion and second door portion provides additional strength and rigidity to the twinsheet door. Additionally, the forming of the closed section between the first door portion and the second door portion and the bonding between the first door portion and second door portion is achieved during a single manufacturing process.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2008Publication date: May 20, 2010Applicant: Magna International Inc.Inventors: Stephen J. Patent number: 7104594Abstract: A clip assembly mounts a cladding panel to a body. The clip assembly includes a clip and a key guide. The clip has a head and a shaft. The head is adapted for attaching to a flange of the cladding panel. The key guide has a hollow body sized to receive and retain the shaft in a first and second engagement position. The key guide is configured to be inserted into a slot on the body structure and upon rotation is retained within the slot. One end of the cladding engages the pilot aperture and an opposite end engages a slot. The cladding is adjustable relative to the body structure while in a first engagement position and is held in place for further fastening when in a second engagement position.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Decoma International Inc.Inventors: Sean Elliot Granger, John Hobill, Kevin Bunting, Michael Gach, Adolfo Enrico Milani, Gary Hawkins

Patent number: 6863327Abstract: A clip (10) mounts a corner cladding panel (14) to a body structure (16). The clip has a body (18) having a tab (20) extending in a longitudinal direction. An attachment fixture (22) extends from the body in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction. The clip (10) is attachable to the body structure in the orthogonal direction and positions the clip (10) to receive the corner cladding panel (14) in the longitudinal direction. The body has a pin (24) extending in the orthogonal direction that maintains an orientation of the clip (10) to receive the cladding in the direction of application. The clip (10) has a ridge (28) positioned to snappingly engage the cladding panel (14) to maintain engagement therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2001Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Decoma International Inc.Inventors: Sean Elliot Granger, Gary Hawkins, Adolfo Enrico Milani, Mark Risdale
