  • Patent number: 9507889
Abstract: Analysis of a seismic event, such as a microseismic event caused by hydraulic fracturing, comprises measuring seismic waves emitted by the event and converting the measurements into two values for magnitude of explosion or implosion and for magnitude of displacement discontinuity at a plane, together with two directions, a direction of a normal to the plane and a direction of displacement; where the two values and the two directions compose the moment tensor describing the seismic event. The measurements may be converted into the moment tensor and decomposed into the values and directions. The values and directions associated with several seismic events may be displayed concurrently on a graphic display as a graphic representation of multiple events, where each event may be depicted with magnitude of expansion or contraction represented by a volume and the plane represented as a laminar object.

  • Patent number: 8760277
Abstract: Method for allocating identification codes which are contained in signals transmitted by components of a tire pressure monitoring system, said components being attached to wheels of the vehicle, to the wheel positions. A plurality of sensors to the tire pressure, to the rolling direction of the wheel, to the shocks, as well as a memory for the identification code, and a transmitter which supplies signals with the identification code, the rolling direction and the occurrence of a shock on a wheel to a receiver which, based on the supplied rolling direction information, distinguishes identification codes pertaining to wheels on the left-hand or right-hand side of the vehicle from shocks which occur on the left-hand or right-hand side of the vehicle, measures the time interval elapsing between shock signals on one side of the vehicle, multiplies this time interval by the velocity of the vehicle measured within the same time interval.

  • Publication number: 20140082468
Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system for web content management, wherein ratings of page relevance to search goals are used to streamline the interface and enhance search engine accuracy. The usage model combines a “view queue” of pages marked for imminent inspection together with “rate and go” buttons that simultaneously record a rating of the current page's relevance to the present search goal and dismiss the current page, replacing it with another from the view queue. For no extra effort, the user is rewarded with more intelligent window and history management based on knowledge of the ratings, whilst the search and authoring community benefits from uploading of the rating data. In an advanced embodiment, search attempts are automatically grouped into “search contexts” within which the relevance ratings are scoped.

  • Patent number: 6962479
Abstract: A compound centrifugal and screw compressor comprising two separate sections. The first section is a conventional centrifugal compressor body 2 with a plurality of radial vanes 3 and 4 on the front face. The second section of the compressor is a screw type compressor with a plurality of helical vanes 6 mounted on a conical screw body 5; the helical vanes 6 are lesser in number than the short radial vanes 4 and the same in number as the long radial vanes 3, typically one quarter to one third, and mate up with longer radial vanes 3 at the extremity of the centrifugal 2 compressor rim. The conical screw body 5 is the same diameter as the outer rim of the centrifugal compressor and reduces down at the output end. The helical vanes each complete one full turn.

  • Patent number: 6523339
Abstract: This jet engine comprises of a complete low bypass turbofan unit 1 including secondary fan unit 2 and engine core, some five to eight feet ahead of which sits a larger diameter main fan unit 3 driven from the turbofan 1 via drive shaft 4. Between the main and secondary fans sits a reversed variable area nozzle 5 connected to the forward end of the secondary fan by a short inlet tube 6, fitted with intercooler 12. At the back of said core sits another variable area nozzle 7 facing rearwards. This arrangement; front nozzle, inlet tube, secondary fan, core, rear nozzle, is enclosed by a variable diameter cylinder 8, providing a variable area bypass duct 9 between cylinder and engine outer casing 10 that extends backwards from the outer diameter of said main fan. A third variable area nozzle 11 is positioned aft of the outer casing facing rearwards.

Abstract: This jet engine comprises a complete low bypass turbofan unit 1 including secondary fan unit 2 and engine core, ahead of which sits a larger diameter main fan unit 3 driven from the front of the secondary fan via a long drive shaft 4. A center portion of the main fan feeds the secondary fan via long central duct 5. The outer portion of the main fan is ducted into a split exhaust plenum chamber 6. This chamber has thrust vectoring exhaust mechanisms 7 immediately attached to each side, and then each side then feeds a thrust splitter 10, and then feeds to variable area outer ducting 8, using double-hinged inner and outer doors 9. Both outer ducts rejoin the central duct downstream in a second plenum chamber 11 just ahead of the secondary fan. Between this chamber and secondary fan is an intercooler 12.
