Patent number: 12105168Abstract: A method of operating a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus includes exciting a body coil of the MRI apparatus to emit a radio-frequency signal, determining a center frequency of a resonance curve of the body coil, and calculating a magnet target frequency based on the determined center frequency. A magnet is ramped to the magnet target frequency.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2022Date of Patent: October 1, 2024Assignee: Siemens Healthineers AGInventors: Stephan Biber, Adrian Bampton, Markus Vester, Andre de Oliveira, Volker Model, Jürgen Nistler, Andreas Potthast, Adam Paul Johnstone

Patent number: 11137469Abstract: A calibration method for calibrating a measuring element for determining an electric current flowing through a basic-field magnet of a magnetic resonance imaging system includes performing a measurement with the measuring element, and performing a frequency measurement in the magnetic field of the basic-field magnet with a frequency measuring unit. The measurement of the measuring element and the frequency measurement are corresponding to the same magnetic field of the basic-field magnet. The calibration method also includes calculating a calibration factor based on a deviation between the measurement with the measuring element and the frequency measurement, and calibrating the measuring element or the electric current in the basic-field magnet based on the calibration factor.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2020Date of Patent: October 5, 2021Assignee: Siemens Healthcare GmbHInventors: Adrian Bampton, Stephan Biber, Adam Paul Johnstone, Jürgen Nistler, Andreas Potthast, Markus Vester, Andre de Oliveira

Patent number: 10775455Abstract: In a superconducting magnet arrangement, such as used in a magnetic resonance system, and a power management method therefor, an enhanced economic power mode (EPM) is implemented wherein the compressor operation is controlled by magnet pressure, temperature and time, so as to ensure the readiness of the magnet system for a scanning operation upon exiting the enhanced EPM. A processor implementing the enhanced EPM looks for a signal that indicates that the magnet system is operational and, in the absence of that signal for a predetermined period of time, enters into EPM. Exit from EPM occurs if certain conditions are violated, but then re-entry into EPM is attempted (re-starting EPM), thereby making the magnet system ready for operation again, if and when a patient scan is to be implemented.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2018Date of Patent: September 15, 2020Assignees: Siemens Healthcare GmbH, Siemens Healthcare LimitedInventors: Felix Michael Koeber, Rolf Heinrichs, Adrian Bampton, Philip Alan Charles Walton, Dhavalkumar Patel, John Anthony Robert Teah
