  • Patent number: 9218924
Abstract: An isolator switch assembly, especially an isolator switch and key assembly for a powered apparatus, such as a lawncare product, for example a lawnmower, includes a key, a keyway and an electrical switch positioned adjacent the keyway. The assembly is arranged to provide a first configuration in which the key is insertable into and removable from the keyway and the switch is open and a second configuration in which the key bears against an actuator surface of the switch to close the switch. In one embodiment, the assembly is arranged to provide a third configuration in which the switch is not actuated and the key is not removable from the keyway and is biased into a predetermined rotational position intermediate the first and second configurations. In a further embodiment, the assembly is provided with an over-torque or over-rotation prevention mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20120233975
Abstract: Lawnmowers, in particular walk-behind lawnmowers, have a mulching function. A lawnmower discharge deflector guard for a lawnmower has a cutter blade rotatably mounted within a cutting cavity. The cutting cavity is in communication with a discharge chute and has a discharge chute outlet formed in a face of the lawnmower closable by a closure flap. The guard is configured for demountable attachment to the lawnmower adjacent the discharge chute outlet to enclose the outlet and receive, in use, grass cuttings therefrom. The guard forms a substantially air/grass cutting-tight seal with the face of the lawnmower. The guard has an operative inner surface having a substantially vertical portion forming a discharge aperture with the face of the lawnmower and extending below a cutting height of the lawnmower. A lawnmower incorporating the guard is also described.

  • Publication number: 20060070367
Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to lawnmowers. In particular it relates to improvements enabling lawnmowers cut grass on the extreme edge of the lawnmower which would otherwise be missed by the cutter blade. We describe a lawnmower having a body or deck movable across a lawn surface and housing a cutter element within a cutter chamber, the cutting element defining a lawnmower cutting width. The lawnmower further comprises a vegetation guide which comprises at least one generally elongate guide element provided on at least one outside edge of the lawnmower body adjacent the cutter chamber such that at least a portion of the guide extends outwardly beyond the lawnmower cutting width. Preferably, the guide includes an inner profile adapted to divert vegetation from a path which is parallel to the direction of travel of the lawnmower to a path which is directed inwardly towards the cutter chamber.
