  • Patent number: 7317134
Abstract: Medical adhesive dressings are disclosed having handle members adhered to polymeric film layers by a layer of adhesive which adheres firmly to the polymeric film layer, but does not adhere to skin or to the silicone coated surface of a release liner. A portion of the handle extends beyond an edge of the polymeric film to facilitate separation of the film from the release liner, and handling thereof during application to a patient. The adhesive adhering the polymeric film to the patient's skin is more aggressive with respect to the patient's skin than the adhesive on the undersurface of the handle is to the polymeric film, whereby the handle can be peeled away from the polymeric film after the film has been applied to the patient.

  • Patent number: 6364113
Abstract: A resealable tamper evident container including a first material with a first adhesive at least about a portion of the perimeter of the first material where the first material is at least partially perforated about the perimeter of the first material. The container further includes a second material with a second adhesive at least about a portion of the perimeter of the second material where the first material is engaged with the second material such that at least a portion of the first adhesive remains exposed. The container also includes a tray with a cavity and a flange extending about at least a portion of the perimeter of the tray where the tray is releasably engaged to the second material by at least a portion of the second adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5566672
Abstract: A tab electrode includes a flexible insulative layer having a first and second opposite side terminating in a peripheral edge and having a tab defined therein inboard of the peripheral edge. A conductive member, having a first end and a second end is adhered to the first side of the insulative layer with the second end underlying the tab. A conductive gel is attached to the first end of the conductive member on a side opposite that of the flexible insulative layer. A lower insulative layer is adhered to the first side of the flexible insulative layer exposing the conductive gel and underlying the second end of the conductive member. The electrode construction is such that the second end of the conductive member extends above and away from the body of the electrode when the electrode is flexed or adhered to a curved surface such as the chest cavity of the patient. In this manner, the electrode lead can be easily and quickly fastened to the tab.

  • Patent number: 5402780
Abstract: The specification discloses a medical electrode particularly well suited for use as a diagnostic or monitoring electrode wherein conductive elements comprising a gel layer and a conductive bridge are intimately mounted on the adhesive top surface of a carrier layer, which includes an opening of dimensions similar to but smaller than the gel layer. A top layer, of at least equal surface area, is also affixed to the adhesive top surface of the carrier layer, sandwiching the indicated conductive elements between the top layer and the carrier layer such that the gel layer is exposed to a patient's skin but cannot be removed from the electrode. An electrically conductive contact means is provided to connect the conductive bridge to the desired monitoring/diagnostic apparatus. The carrier layer also includes an adhesively coated undersurface, which attaches to a patient's skin.

  • Patent number: 5153040
Abstract: A wound dressing includes a transparent vapor and gas permeable polymeric film which has an adhesive coated surface. A pair of liners or release sheets cover the adhesive coated surface and the liners define overlapping gripping flaps. Additional adhesive strips are positioned at opposed edges of the film and interposed between the adhesive coated surface of the film and the liners. Increased adhesion of the film to the liners occurs at the adhesive strips. The film is perforated adjacent the adhesive strips.

  • Patent number: 4798208
Abstract: A diagnostic electrode adapted to be affixed to a patient's body for diagnostic medical tests comprising a foam backing layer coated with an adhesive, a tin foil layer bonded to said backing layer and a conductive gel coated on a portion of the tin foil layer. The tin foil layer is of a smaller size than the backing layer and is oriented thereon such that the backing layer forms a U-shaped border around the tin foil layer, to thereby supplement the conductive gel in affixing the electrode to the patient's body. The foam backing layer further provides a surface which a clip, electrically coupled to diagnostic equipment, can securely bite into, in order to securely grip the electrode. A plurality of electrodes are arranged on a release web with their clip tabs intermeshing in side-by-side relation, and extending over a central fold line in the web whereby when the web is folded, the clip tabs are exposed for ease of grasping or securing a lead clip.

  • Patent number: 4789415
Abstract: An apparatus for making base assemblies for medicine dispensing compresses, which includes using a web of substantially imperforate material and a web of backing material having a base layer with an adhesive on one side. A plurality of individual dam patches are cut from the web of imperforate material, and applied to the adhesive side of the base layer. A cover layer is applied to the adhesive side of the base layer to sandwich the dam patches between the base layer and the cover layer. Individual base units are cut into the base layer, with one of the dam patches positioned within each of the base units. Apertures are cut in the areas of the cover layer overlying the dam patches to access a portion of the foil surface of each of the dam patches. The offal portion of the base layer is removed from the cover layer, forming fabricated base assemblies for the compresses which are conveniently carried together on the cover layer for final assembly.
