  • Publication number: 20240082845
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a system for transporting a liquid from a chamber into one or more collection containers. The system may be semi-automatic or fully automatic. The system may be embodied in a sample preparation device, such as a cylindrical cartridge. The system includes a plunger chamber that creates negative pressure to fill the one or more collection containers. The plunger chamber is armed using a pivotable locking arm and a trigger coupled to the arm. Methods of using the system for transporting a liquid from a chamber into one or more collection containers is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6830374
Abstract: This invention concerns a thermocouple which is protected by an outer sheath comprising inner and outer tubes with the annular space filled with low temperature sintering refractory material which is preferably beaded before filling in the space and in which the outer tube is constricted to compact the material. The refractory material will include borosilicate and boric acid powder.

  • Patent number: 4975123
Abstract: This invention concerns thermocouples for the measurement of temperature of molten metal which have a bimetal junction located in a closed outer end of a length of quartz glass tube with the wire ends separated around a plug in the open end of the tube and connected to the compensating conductors of the thermocouple.

  • Patent number: 4848438
Abstract: A sampler compries a mould (2) held in a slot (8) at the end of a tube (6) having a cardboard inner wall and an outer protective coating (7), the end of the tube (6) being received in the socket (10) of a body (9), a bore (11) extending between the socket (10) and the outside of the body (9) so that molten metal may reach the mould.

  • Patent number: 4838336
Abstract: This invention concerns samplers used for sampling molten metals and comprises a metal mold which is encased in a non-reactive refractory material and located in a slot in the end of an immersion tube engaged within the encasing material, the tube having at least an outer layer of non-reactive refractory material. Further the non-reactive material will provide a glass or glass-like outer surface layer thereto during use.

  • Patent number: 4337221
Abstract: A high-temperature thermocouple is made by placing a u-tube containing a bi-metal junction in a mould, positioned to locate the u projecting through the face portion of the mould, holding other non-ceramic parts of the thermocouple in the mould, and filling the mould with ceramic. The mould is elastically deformable at least where it holds the u-tube, and the ceramic extends into the u-tube ends. Also the product made by the described method.

  • Patent number: 4241003
Abstract: This invention relates to a mould for use in manufacturing thermocouple units of the type having a bi-metal junction located in a glass u-tube to project from a body of ceramic material, comprising a mould for a thermocouple unit formed in at least two mould members of mouldable material. These members include means for locating and holding at least some of the non-ceramic components of the thermocouple unit, in accurate spaced relation to each other prior to introduction of the ceramic material.
