  • Patent number: 6234413
Abstract: An injector assembly comprising an injector (3) and a wall (1) having an inner surface (2) defining a cavity receiving the injector (3). A peripheral surface portion of the injector (3) and a corresponding portion of the cavity inner surface (2) are configured to inter-engage such that force applied to the injector (3) in a predetermined direction causes mutually oppositely directed reaction forces perpendicular to the applied force which tend to laterally compress the injector (3), for relieving lateral stress within the injector (3). Additionally, an injector (3) for fitting in a cavity of an injector assembly, the injector (3) including an axially extending portion (10) comprising at least two peripheral irregularities in an otherwise substantially regular lateral cross-section.

  • Patent number: 6119657
Abstract: A connector is disclosed which is intended for use with an injector. The connector comprises a projection defining an inlet passage sealed, in use, within a bore provided in the injector. The inlet passage communicates with at least one outlet passage. The connector further comprises at least one tooth received within a recess provided in the injector to secure the connector to the injector. The recess is conveniently defined by a body and nut forming part of the injector.

  • Patent number: 5752483
Abstract: A governor arrangement for an internal combustion engine is disclosed which comprises a plurality of weights rotatable with a rotatable drive shaft and pivotable with respect to the shaft. The weights are engageable with a washer which, in turn, engages a sleeve. The sleeve engages a lever the position of which is used to control the setting of a metering valve. A hydrodynamic bearing arrangement is provided between the sleeve and washer. A drive arrangement may be provided to drive the washer when the rotational speed of the shaft is insufficient to cause the weights to move the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5642710
Abstract: A governor mechanism for use with a fuel pumping apparatus includes a centrifugal weight mechanism which is coupled to an output member the latter being coupled to a fuel control member so that with increasing speed the quantity of fuel supplied by the apparatus is reduced. A governor spring opposes the movement of the output member but in addition a leaf spring is provided to supplement the action of the governor spring. The leaf spring is formed by one end of a torsion spring which is wound about a cylindrical member. The cylindrical member and the torsion spring are axially movable relative to each other to alter the effective number of turns of the torsion spring connected in series with the leaf spring.
