  • Patent number: 6109120
Abstract: The universal active shaft sensor mounting assembly comprises a base including structure thereon for fixedly engaging a rotational shaft sensor onto an end of a rotatable shaft in a manner maintaining the sensor fixed in position against rotation. The assembly is fixed to the end of the shaft by a spindle rotatably engaged to the base with the axis of rotation for the spindle and shaft being the same. A target element fixedly engages another end of the rotatable spindle, rotating therewith and interacting with the sensor mounted to the base.

  • Patent number: 6047037
Abstract: A multi-lift tool and method for moving control rod assemblies in a nuclear reactor. The multi-lift tool comprises a frame having an upper end and a lower end. A control rod grapple is supported by the frame for engaging a lifting handle of a control rod. The control rod grapple is movable along a length of the frame for raising and lowering the control rod relative to the frame. A fuel support piece grapple is secured to the lower end of the frame for engaging and lifting a fuel support piece together with the control rod. A blade guide grapple is secured to the upper end of the frame for engaging and lifting a blade guide together with the fuel support piece and the control rod. An unlatching grapple is supported near the lower end of the frame for engaging and lifting an unlatching handle of the control rod. The unlatching grapple is movable along a length of a lower portion of the frame for raising the unlatching handle of the control rod relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5793828
Abstract: In order to support a shroud against bending, shear, stress and torsion, straps are placed in strategic positions with respect to cracks or like types of weaknesses which have been detected, and fastened in place using a suitable fastening technique. Holes are formed using an EDM technique in cooperation with supports for an EDM placed on the straps, and bolt units which have an expanding portion are inserted into the holes, torqued and expanded in a manner which fastens the strap to the shroud. A temperature responsive bimetallic strain system which produces a clamping force, is created by forming the straps of a material which has a lower expansion coefficient than the shroud material. As the reactor heats, the expansion differential tensions the straps and produces a clamping force.

  • Patent number: 5781603
Abstract: In order to support a shroud against bending, shear, stress and torsion, straps which are preferably formed of the same material as the shroud, are placed in strategic positions with respect to cracks or the like type of weaknesses which have been detected, and fastened in place using a suitable fastening technique. In the preferred embodiments of the invention holes are formed using an EDM technique and bolt units which have an expanding portion are inserted into the holes, torqued and expanded in a manner which fastens the strap to the shroud. Welding and the like type of fastening techniques are not excluded and may used alternatively or in combination with the bolting technique as required.

  • Patent number: 5763672
Abstract: Catalyst compositions for preparing polyketones comprising(a) a Group VIII metal compound, containing at least one ligand capable of coordinating to the Group VIII metal, and(b) a boron hydrocarbyl compoundare disclosed, in particular catalyst compositions wherein the boron hydrocarbyl compound is a Lewis acid of the formula BXYZ where at least one of X, Y and Z is a monovalent hydrocarbyl group. A preferred catalyst composition comprises a palladium complex and B(C.sub.6 F.sub.5).sub.3.

  • Patent number: 5737700
Abstract: A cellular telephone subscriber who wishes directory assistance services is connected in the conventional manner to an operator who identifies a destination telephone number desired by the subscriber. As in the prior art, the operator then initiates a call connecting the subscriber to the destination telephone number. However, rather than dropping all further involvement with the call, the preferred embodiment of the present invention continually monitors the connection thereby established for a predetermined DTMF signal issued by the customer, such as that obtained by pressing the "*" button. If such a signal is detected, the customer is transferred back to a directory assistance operator, who can then provide whatever further assistance is needed (e.g. redialing a busy number, or providing further directory assistance). Billing information for the calls originated by the directory assistance operator on the subscriber's behalf is logged in a database at the directory assistance center.

  • Patent number: 4083311
Abstract: A vehicle comprising separable wheeled sections that supports an elongated load therebetween in the manner of a Schnabel-type railway car or over-the-road vehicle. The vehicle is characterized by the inclusion of a pivotal arrangement intermediate coupled wheeled sections that reduces the longitudinal distance between vertical pivot points and, thus, reduces the side clearance required when empty cars are joined together and subjected to routine transportation over a curved roadway.
