  • Publication number: 20110173763
Abstract: The invention provides a process for aminoarylating cellulosic materials such as cotton and reconstituted fibres and a process for treating the aminoarylated cellulose with an effect chemical such as a dye, flame retardant or cross linking agent. Improved take up of the effect chemical by the modified cellulose means increased efficiency in the process and in the case of dyeing, avoids or reduces the washing off of hydrolysed dye and the resultant production of large volumes of contaminated water requiring to be treated. The cellulosic material may be present in a blend with other types of fibre for example a blend with poly(alkyleneterephthalates) or polyamides.

  • Patent number: 7837347
Abstract: The present invention provides a luminaire comprising a lamp housing having an upper surface and at least one opposed pair of lamp holders extending downwardly from opposing ends of said housing. The housing includes a plurality of apertures in the upper surface thereof to permit transmission of light therethrough and a reversible reflector capable of being secured to said housing in a plurality of positions having a plurality of apertures therein wherein in a first position the apertures in said reflector are aligned with the apertures in said housing to permit light transmission therethrough and wherein in a second position the apertures in said housing are covered by said reflector to prohibit light transmission therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4780058
Abstract: A fluid foil for use in a marine propeller having an upper surface with a uniform, continuous convex shape commencing at the leading edge and terminating at the trailing edge of the foil section and a lower foil face having a convex shape extending from the said leading edge to the foil mid/chord position and having a concave shape extending from the said mid-chord position to the said trailing edge. An effective pitch line extending from the foil leading edge to the foil trailing edge is intersected tangentially by the concave shape of the lower foil face.

  • Patent number: 3962876
Abstract: A fishway comprising a channel having spaced-apart side walls and an interconnecting bottom wall for conducting a flow of water therethrough, a plurality of longitudinally spaced vortex generators formed on each channel side wall for providing reversing vortices in the flow stream of water along the channel whereby alternately reversing cross-stream water flows and upstream water flows are created to assist fish using the fishway in upstream travel. The vortex generators are provided by uniformly spaced baffles extending alternately from the channel side walls. The channel can be straight or curved in the form, for example, of a helix.
