    Abstract: A method and a device for detecting copies or near-copies of images, comprises receiving an initial image, converting the initial image to grayscale, resizing the grayed image to a reduced image having a plurality of rows and an even number of columns, computing an overall signature for the reduced image, and determining whether the initial image is a copy or near-copy of an image according to the result of a comparison between the overall signature of the reduced image and reference image signatures. The step of computing the overall signature comprises the steps of computing a row signature for each row of the reduced image, the computation being based on a comparison of values obtained statistically across subsets of symmetrical pixels in each row, and concatenating the row signatures in order to obtain an overall signature.

    Abstract: A method for searching for images similar to a query image in a collection of images, using a representation of the query image in a form of a vector of characteristics allocating a weight to each of the characteristics, and including querying an inverted index matching each of the characteristics with images from the collection. The querying the inverted index includes integrating, into a list, one or more images from the collection that are matched in the inverted index with a first characteristic selected depending on the weight allocated to same in the vector representing the query image. The integrating into the list is repeated for another characteristic selected depending on the weight allocated to same in the vector representing the query image until the number of images of the collection integrated into the list reaches a target number.

    Abstract: A method implemented by computer for the semantic description of the content of an image comprising the steps consisting in receiving a signature associated with the image; receiving a plurality of groups of initial visual concepts; the method comprising the steps of expressing the signature of the image in the form of a vector comprising components referring to the groups of initial visual concepts; and modifying the signature by applying a filtering rule applicable to the components of the vector. Developments describe, in particular, intra-group or inter-group, thresholds-based and/or order-statistic-based filtering rules, partitioning techniques including the visual similarity of the images and/or semantic similarity of the concepts, the optional addition of manual annotations to the semantic description of the image. The advantages of the method in respect of parsimonious and diversified semantic representation are presented.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media provide for the transfer of data between electronic devices utilizing a network clipboard. According to various embodiments described herein, a clipboard application residing on a host device associated with a user transmits data from a local clipboard of the host device to a remote network clipboard via a network. A clipboard application associated with a target device associated with the user transmits a request for the data stored on the network clipboard. A copy of the data associated with the user is retrieved from the network clipboard and stored on a local clipboard of the target device. The data is then copied to a target application. This process results from a single network clipboard transaction that includes a cut or copy action on the host device and a paste action on the target device.

    Abstract: A device for maintaining a constant tip-surface distance for producing nanolithography patterns on a surface using a telescopic nanotube for hot nanolithography. An outer nanotube is attached to an AFM cantilever opposite a support end. An inner nanotube is telescopically disposed within the outer nanotube. The tip of the inner nanotube is heated to a sufficiently high temperature and brought in the vicinity of the surface. Heat is transmitted to the surface for thermal imprinting. Because the inner tube moves telescopically along the outer nanotube axis, a tip-surface distance is maintained constant due to the vdW force interaction, which in turn eliminates the need of an active feedback loop.

Its main function is to measure changes in the characteristics of the motion of the carbon nanotube oscillating near a sample surface, and profile the roughness of this surface. The device operates in a non-contact mode, thus it can be virtually non-wear and non-fatigued system. It is an alternative to the existing atomic force microscope (AFM) tips used to scan surfaces to determine their roughness.
