  • Publication number: 20030082129
Abstract: Hair and skin care compositions containing siloxane-based polyamides are disclosed, some of which utilize a base composition comprising a silicone fluid, a silicone immiscible substance, and a siloxane-based polyamide. The siloxane-based polyamide functions as a compatibilizing agent, film forming agent and durability enhancer in these hair and skin care compositions. A method of enhancing the fragrance longevity of fragrance containing skin care compositions after application is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6511657
Abstract: A two-phase roll-on antiperspirant and/or deodorant is described which comprises: (a) a clear, translucent or opaque non-polar phase having a viscosity in the range of 20 cps-9,000 made by combining: a cross-linked or partially cross-linked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer; 0.1-70 weight % of one or more low viscosity, lipophilic emollients; (b) a clear, translucent or opaque polar phase have a viscosity in the range of 20-9,000 cps made by combining: one or more members selected from the group consisting of water, glycols and polyhydric alcohols; and an antiperspirant active salt which is soluble or suspendible in the polar phase; wherein the polar phase comprises (i) a sufficient amount of water, glycols or polyhydric alcohols to dissolve or suspend the antiperspirant active, and (ii) optionally may comprise up to 30 weight % water; up to 16.00 weight % of ethyl alcohol; up to 16 weight % isopropyl alcohol; or mixtures of the foregoing; (iii) 0.1-2.

  • Patent number: 6451295
Abstract: Clear antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions, especially clear sticks having good structural integrity, can be formed by incorporating at least 8% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of a selected siliconized polyamide into a product formulated with at least one silicone material and at least one non-silicone emollient. The siliconized polyamides have the silicone portion in the acid side of the polyamide and are selected so that: (a) the degree of polymerization in the silicone portion is in the range of 12-18; (b) the average molecular weight of the siliconized polyamide is at least 50,000 daltons with at least 95% of the polyamide having a molecular weight greater than 10,000 as measured by size exclusion chromatography; and (c) the polydispersity is less than 20.

  • Patent number: 5969038
Abstract: A composition contains (A) a silicone component which is an aqueous oil-in-water microemulsion containing a polysiloxane stabilized in the microemulsion by a cationic surfactant, and (B) a inorganic salt or an organic salt. The polysiloxane in the cationic microemulsion has a particle diameter of less than about 100 nanometer, preferably less than about 40 nanometer. The polysiloxane is a polydimethylsiloxane or an amine functional polysiloxane, preferably prepared by emulsion polymerization. The composition preferably contains at least about twenty percent by weight of the salt.
