  • Publication number: 20030106229
Abstract: Reference gauge for calibrating measuring machines whose reference dimension can be measured both on its inner size and by its outer size, thus making it possible to keep the reference dimension less than 15 millimeters, even for calibrating measuring machines equipped with probe tips having a diameter greater than that dimension. The calibration method with the aid of such a reference gauge comprises in certain cases the measuring of the calibrated distance between two outer surfaces of a protruding volume.

  • Patent number: 6247244
Abstract: The micrometer includes a sleeve provided with an at least partially threaded inner surface and an at least partially threaded outer surface. The outer surface includes at least one deformable, tapered portion. A micrometric screw is engaged in the sleeve, and is able to be set in rotation with respect to the sleeve in such a way as to displace itself along the longitudinal measuring axis (x) of the device. A nut is engaged on the external threading of the sleeve and is able to be put in contact with the tapered portion in such a way as to deform it in order to adjust the play between the screw and the sleeve. The tapered portion is devoid of longitudinal slits; its deformability is provided by an external diameter variable along its periphery, preferably by an odd number of flat segments.

  • Patent number: 6243965
Abstract: The electronic micrometer includes a casing defining at least an internal volume, in which are disposed a sleeve having an at least partially threaded inner surface. A screw is engaged in this sleeve and is able to be put in rotation with respect to the sleeve in such a way as to displace itself along the longitudinal measuring axis (x) of the device. There is a capacitive system of measurement for measuring the relative rotation of the screw with respect to the sleeve and for determining, starting with that measurement, the longitudinal position of the screw. The casing comprises two half-shells. At least one filiform joint allows the internal volume inside the casing to be sealed. Other sealing means are provided to prevent any infiltration of water or of dust into this internal volume. Accordingly, micrometer are protected.

  • Patent number: 5722179
Abstract: Device for measuring length of the type sliding caliper or height gauge, in which the guiding of the slider along the beam is ensured by at least two guide shafts engaged in grooves of the slider and in slideways of the beam. The contact surface between the guide shafts is reduced to segments of a line in order to minimize the friction and to have a guide surface in a zone protected from impacts. In a preferred embodiment, the slideways have a section corresponding to a circular segment and the part of the guide shafts engaged in the slideways a section corresponding to a segment of a circle of smaller diameter. The guide shafts are supported on the slider only at their two ends and are floating between these two points of contact. The parallelism of the fixed and mobile jaws is adjustable with the aid of a screw.

  • Patent number: 5664336
Abstract: A linear measuring device comprising a scale fixed on a supporting structure along which a slide can slide. A transducer connected to the slide permits, in cooperation with the scale, determination of at least one coordinate of a point connected to the slide in a system of coordinates connected to the supporting structure. The transducer is fixed to the slide at three points by a mounting device having at each point a screw engaged in a partially threaded opening of a column and a spring. In acting on one of the screws at each of the said points, the spacing can be changed between the detection device and the slide. The spring keeps the spacing as large as the engagement of the screw in the said opening permits. The detection device is of the capacitive or electro-optical type and is mounted on a transducer support. The slide slides by means of rollers, part of the rollers rolling on guide surfaces belonging to the same plane as the surface of the supporting structure to which the scale is fixed.

  • Patent number: 5373645
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a bearing plate (1), a slideway (2) and a girder (3) which are perpendicular to the bearing plane of the bearing plate, a slide (4) with tracer head (5) movable along the slideway and a drive plate (7) located in front of the slide and stabilized by guides (8, 9) independent of the slide. The plate (7) and the slide (4) are connected by balancing (10) and damping (11) springs. A drive device by cable (13) and return pulleys (15-18) which is moved by a movement generator (19) is connected to the plate (7) and is entirely supported by the girder (3) and the bearing plate (1). A counterweight (14) inserted in the circuit of the cable (13) balances the weight itself of the movable elements (4, 7). A body (63) for protection against impacts is fastened to the girder (3) and to the bearing plate (1).

  • Patent number: 5072524
Abstract: The sensor is of the type having a cylindrical body within which a measurement rod equipped with an outer measurement feeler bears a ferrite core which by its displacements influences the impedance of a system of coils to produce an electrical measurement signal. In the body, a fixed stop and an interposed movable stop make it possible to adjust the positioning of the measurement feeler in one or the other of two positions with respect to the electrical zero of the feeler and they have for this purpose interpenetration means with two stages spaced at an angle from each other and selected by manual push and rotation of the rod driving the movable stop in opposition to a spring and then release, in the manner of the so called "bayonet" connections.

  • Patent number: 4766674
Abstract: The device is intended for an independent measuring apparatus which can be displaced on a measurement plane on which a part to be measured is immobilized. This device comprises a slide which is displaceable along a slideway of the apparatus perpendicular to the measurement plane, a carriage mounted for displacement in said same direction against opposing forces of two springs intended for the applying of a sensing force, and a support bearing a probe which is mounted for displacement on the carriage in a direction perpendicular to that of the vertical slideway. Upon the search for the point of regression of the probe which is necessary for the detection of the two diametrically opposite points of a bore of the part to be measured, the entire apparatus is immobile on the measurement plane and only the feeler support is displaced on the carriage. Automation of the search for the point of regression is also shown.

  • Patent number: 4658510
Abstract: The sensor comprises a reference body (1) in which there is displaceably mounted a movable body (3) bearing a measurement finger (6) and a pick-up (9) which translates the displacements of the movable body into electrical signals. The movable body (3) has a stop (18) subjected to the opposing pressures of two springs (19, 26), one of which (26) lies in the extension of the rod of the piston (24) of a single-acting pneumatic cylinder-piston unit (23).When the cylinder-piston unit is at rest, the measurement finger is disengaged by pressure of the spring (19) opposite said cylinder-piston unit. When the cylinder-piston unit is extended, the measurement finger is pressed against the part to be measured by the action of the spring (26) borne by the rod of the piston. The finger of this sensor is thus disengaged in the position of rest of the cylinder-piston unit and can easily be brought towards the finger of another sensor of the same type in the direction of the taking of the measurement.

  • Patent number: 4389784
Abstract: A comparator is provided including a body in which there is fastened a plate comprising a lever for transmission of movements of a pivoting feeler, and an amplification device, with gearing, actuated by said lever and driving a needle of a reading dial. The stroke of the transmission lever is limited by a rigid end-of-stroke stop. On the path of the transmission lever, a coil spring is arranged between its position of rest and its end-of-stroke position to protect the mechanism from accidental impact. In case of impact on the feeler, the energy developed by the amplification device is partly absorbed before the impact of transmission lever on the rigid end-of-stroke stop.
