  • Patent number: 9169395
Abstract: A composition includes at least one poly(aliphatic ester)-polycarbonate copolymer, a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer, and an electromagnetic shielding agent (such as metal fibers). The composition exhibits excellent impact properties and electromagnetic shielding properties when formed into an article. Another composition includes at least one poly(aliphatic ester)-polycarbonate copolymer, a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer, and carbon fibers. This composition has excellent impact properties when formed into an article.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7390450
Abstract: A process for producing a fire resistant polycarbonate composition comprises preparing an aqueous solution of a flame retardant salt; and compounding the aqueous solution of the flame retardant salt with a polycarbonate composition to form the fire resistant polycarbonate composition. The process reduces the level of haze, color and inclusions compared to fire resistant polycarbonate compositions compounded with the same flame retardant salt in solid form.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 7, 2002
Date of Patent: June 24, 2008
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Theodorus Lambertus Hoeks, Adrianus A. M. Kusters
