Abstract: A color projection system includes a light source, a rotatable drum having a plurality of differently Colored bands, and a light modulation panel on which light beams reflected by the colored bands can be directed by way of scrolling. The apparatus directs the light beam from the light source onto a first group of juxtaposed bands. The light beam on each band is split and reflected into light beams having complementary colors and different directions of polarization. Light beams having a first direction of polarization are directed onto the light modulation panel, and light beams having a second direction of polarization are reflected onto a second rope of bands of the drum. The second group of bands is shifted by at least one band with respect to the first group of bands.

Abstract: Method of adjusting a desired white color on at least a part of an image by means of a device comprising at least a light source and at least an electro-optical light modulation panel. The light coming from the light source is converted into an image via at least the electro-optical light modulation panel. A light control device co-operating with a light modulation panel is associated with this panel. For adjusting the desired white color, the electro-optical light modulation panel is driven through at least a part to a desired maximum. The part is imaged on the part of the image. The color of the part of the image is adapted to the desired white color by means of the light control device.

Abstract: A projection device generates at least one image and adjust the color balance for a white portion of the image. A light source drives one or more electro-optical light modulation panels. A light control device comprising an LCD provided with a single electrode is associated with and cooperates with the light modulation panel(s) and is adjustable to increase output of one or more of the light modulation panels in order to adjust the color balance of the white portion of the image.

Abstract: A projection screen providing an improved contrast between projected light and ambient light, which projection screen comprises a light-absorbing layer and an active layer located in front of said light-absorbing layer. The active layer is transparent to light having a first direction of polarization and reflective to light having a second direction of polarization. The reflecting polarizing layer may be provided between the active layer and the light-absorbing layer.
