Abstract: A user's activities are automatically logged as they are passively sensed by the user's mobile devices. Patterns of activities or changes in those patterns can be used to identify goals, and users can tell the logging system about other goals directly. The goals may be complex goals having many activities that may contribute to accomplishing the goal. Examples of complex goals include improving health, reducing carbon footprint, and saving money. Progress is monitored toward the user's goal over time. Suggestions are made to the user for how to make progress toward identified goals at times in the user's schedule where a degree of flexibility is available. The suggestions may be based on activities that worked for other people with similar profiles to the user (e.g., in terms of goal, schedule, characteristics, likes/dislikes, stage of change, motivation level, etc.).
