Patent number: 11960603Abstract: A server manager for detecting ransomware includes a server interface to retrieve, from a storage device, a backup of a plurality of files stored by a client device. A ransomware detection module includes a statistical filter to generate a standard pattern of file activities of the client device for a time period. A statistical behavior analysis is performed on the backup of the plurality of files based on the standard pattern to identify a portion of the backup corresponding to a statistical anomaly different from the standard pattern. The statistical anomaly corresponds to an abnormal file activity. An entropy detector generates an entropy score for the portion of the backup. The entropy score represents a randomness of a distribution of bits in a block of a file in the portion of the backup. It is determined whether the backup includes the ransomware based on the generated entropy score.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2018Date of Patent: April 16, 2024Assignee: Druva Inc.Inventors: Adwait Bhave, Hemanshu Asolia, Neeraj Thakur

Patent number: 11951534Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for an event detection system that captures data associated with events while a DC casting system forms an ingot, determines characteristics of the events, and improves the casting system based on the events. Example systems and methods may include initiating a casting operation using one or more pieces of equipment of a casting system including a casting apparatus; capturing sensor data associated with one or more acoustic signals captured relative to the one or more pieces of equipment performing the casting operation; comparing the sensor data with a set of acoustic profiles; determining whether a particular type of event has occurred; causing an adjustment to the casting system or to the casting operation based on whether the particular type of event has occurred; and initiating a second casting operation using the adjusted casting system or casting operation.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: Novelis Inc.Inventors: John Robert Buster McCallum, Phillip Wilson, Larry Hudson, Richard Shockley, Todd F. Bischoff, Adwait Thakur

Publication number: 20230286038Abstract: A monitoring system may monitor a casting environment, for example, including a mold. The monitoring system may include a camera and a computer system. The camera may be positioned to capture or detect optical data associated with one or more components in a casting environment. The camera may send the optical data to the computer system and the computer system may generate a profile associated with the casting environment. The profile may be compared with a baseline profile to determine whether a particular event has occurred. Based on the event that may have occurred, operating instructions can be generated. The operating instructions may be used to adjust the casting process.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 2021Publication date: September 14, 2023Applicant: Novelis Inc.Inventors: John Robert Buster McCallum, Michael R. Kosmicki, Adwait Thakur, William M. Betts, Phillip Wilson, Adarsh Gupta, Augusto-Cesar Silva

Patent number: 11123749Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for sorting material on a conveyor of a conveyor system, such as a conveyor system for material including non-ferrous metals. The conveyor system includes a conveyor belt and a separator system. The conveyor belt is adapted to convey the material. The separator system includes a separator below the conveyor belt and is configured to selectively apply a separating force onto the material on the conveyor belt such that at least one piece of the material is lifted off of the conveyor belt. A method of sorting material on a conveyor belt includes receiving the material on the conveyor belt, conveying the material with the conveyor belt, and applying the separating force onto the material with the separator such that at least one piece of the material is lifted off of the conveyor belt.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2019Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Assignee: NOVELIS INC.Inventors: Adwait A. Thakur, Michael R. Kosmicki

Patent number: 10836584Abstract: A conveying system, such as a conveying system for material including non-ferrous metals, includes a conveying belt and a stabilizer. The conveying belt includes a conveying surface and is adapted to convey the material on the conveying surface. The stabilizer is configured to apply a stabilizing force onto the material on the conveyor belt such that the material is stabilized while being conveyed. A method of stabilizing material on a conveyor belt includes receiving the material on the conveying surface of the conveyor belt, conveying the material at a conveying speed with the conveyor belt, and applying the stabilizing force onto the material with a stabilizer such that vertical displacement of at least some of the material is dampened and/or minimized at the conveying speed.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2019Date of Patent: November 17, 2020Assignee: NOVELIS INC.Inventors: Michael R. Kosmicki, Adwait A. Thakur
