  • Publication number: 20090225705
Abstract: The present invention discloses a gateway and a terminal negotiating a QoS in a network interworking system. The terminal negotiates a QoS with a WLAN access point and establishes a WLAN access bearer. In addition, the terminal negotiates a QoS with the gateway for packet exchange through the WLAN access bearer. The gateway accepts a QoS according to a QoS of an external bearer, and the terminal and the gateway establish an I-WLAN bearer. Subsequently, the terminal negotiates a QoS with the gateway for packet exchange with an end terminal through the I-WLAN bearer. The gateway accepts the QoS depending on available resources of the external and I-WLAN bearers, and the terminal and the gateway establish an IP bearer.

  • Publication number: 20090080354
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-media broadcast and multicast service (MBMS) providing system and a method thereof. The MBMS providing system provides an MBMS to a terminal having an MBMS function. The MBMS providing system includes a service center and a radio access network. The service center provides MBMS data and metadata having service announcement information abut the MBMS to the terminal. The radio access network periodically transmits establishment information for receiving the metadata to the terminal, and provides the metadata and the MBMS data received from the service center to the terminal through nodes for transmitting data. The establishment information includes first establishment information having a service identifier and IP/UDP parameters for receiving the metadata, and second establishment information for establishing a radio channel.

  • Publication number: 20090080391
Abstract: A 3GPP-WLAN interworking system to which WLAN user equipment is accessed includes a WLAN access network including a WLAN access point, a 3GPP packet-switched service network including terminal equipment, a 3GPP core network connecting the WLAN access network and the 3GPP packet-switched service network, and a packet data gateway relaying the 3GPP core network and the 3GPP packet-switched service network. The WLAN user equipment negotiates a QoS according to a wireless environment with the WLAN access point to generate a WLAN bearer, negotiates a QoS according to a type of user data with the packet data gateway to generate a WLAN 3GPP IP access bearer, and negotiates a QoS according to data process performance of the terminal equipment with the terminal equipment to generate an end-to-end bearer.

  • Publication number: 20080207230
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-mode communication system and a method thereof. The multi-mode communication system uses a first mode among a plurality communication modes for accessing a first mobility control entity (MCE) among a plurality of MCEs, and communicates data with the first MCE. The multi-mode communication system receives a paging request that has been transmitted from a multi-mode control entity (MMCE) for accessing a second MCE from the first MCE and analyzes the paging request, and puts the first mode into a sleep mode and a second mode for accessing the second MCE into an awake mode based on the analysis. Subsequently, multi-mode UE accesses the second MCE by using the second mode in the awake mode. According to the present invention, an MMCE for multi-mode control is provided to integrate and manage an idle state for each access mode of multi-mode user equipment, thereby minimizing power consumption due to access of the multi-mode UE to a radio access system.

  • Publication number: 20080192681
Abstract: The present invention provides multi-mode user equipment for supporting wireless data communication with the Internet through various access networks. The multi-mode user equipment includes a plurality of network interfaces for supporting access to the respective access networks. In addition, the multi-mode user equipment collects information on the state of the respective access networks from the respectively corresponding network interfaces, selects a network interface that is capable of providing a stable data communication path based on the collected information, and establishes a data communication path. Further, the multi-mode user equipment releases the data communication path when data packets are not subsequently transmitted/received through the corresponding data communication path to thereby achieve efficient use of resources.

  • Publication number: 20070281665
Abstract: Disclosed are a method for requesting, generating and distributing a service-specific traffic encryption key in a wireless portable Internet system, an apparatus for the same, and a protocol configuration method for the same. In the present invention, a subscriber station sends a Key Request message for requesting a service-specific traffic encryption key to the base station using a PKM-REQ MAC message, and a base station analyzes the Key Request message to generate the requested service-specific traffic encryption key. Subsequently, the base station sends a Key Reply message, including the generated service-specific traffic encryption key, to the subscriber station using a PKM-RSP MAC message. If the base station fails to generate the key, the base station sends a Key Reject message, including a reason for the failure, to the subscriber station.

Abstract: Disclosed are a subscriber station authentication method, a protocol configuration method, and a device thereof in a wireless portable Internet system. In the subscriber station authentication method, an authentication mode between a subscriber station (10) and a base station (20) is negotiated, and the authentication mode is negotiated by the base station (20) according to the authentication mode negotiation. The authentication modes include an authentication mode based on the IEEE 802.16 privacy standard protocol and an authentication mode based on the standardized authentication protocol of the upper layer. Authentication is performed by the base station (10) in the case of the authentication mode based on the IEEE 802.16 privacy standard protocol, and the authentication is performed through message transmission using a diameter protocol between a base station (10) and an authentication server (40) in the case of the authentication mode based on the standardized authentication protocol of the upper layer.

  • Patent number: 7209464
Abstract: A verification system and method for packet call processing of a mobile telephone. Each IP address is assigned to a terminal, a packet service simulator and the mobile telephone. The packet service simulator simulates a control signal of UTRAN necessary for the mobile telephone and connects data traffic to an internet after a packet call establishment. The packet service simulator transmits an IP packet generated from the terminal to its Ethernet address, receives a packet for the terminal and transmits it to the mobile telephone. For this, the packet service simulator responds to the terminal's ARP request. The terminal is linked to the mobile telephone via a PPP, and the mobile telephone and the packet service simulator to an external internet via an Ethernet.
