  • Publication number: 20240170969
Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating a medium voltage microgrid operation to manage critical loads are disclosed. The system includes at least two fuel cell systems that operate in one of at least two operating modes including a grid-forming mode and a grid-following mode, based on an operation of at least two utility feeders of a grid. The system includes a controller that receives values corresponding to electrical parameter(s) from at least two utility circuit breakers and a load circuit breaker, detects availability status of the utility circuit breakers to supply power to corresponding at least two portions of the critical load, and a connection status of the load circuit breaker, based on the values, and facilitates the at least two fuel cell systems to operate in one of the at least two operating modes. Further, the system is scalable, redundant, and reliable, and reliability and redundancy are customizable.

  • Publication number: 20240128776
Abstract: A microgrid power system includes a power module configured to generate direct current (DC) power, an inverter module having a DC side and an AC side, and configured to invert DC power received from the power module on the DC side and output alternating current (AC) power on the AC side, a DC bus electrically connecting an output of the power module to an input on the DC side of the inverter module, an AC load bus configured to electrically connect an output on the AC of the inverter module to an AC load, an energy storage device electrically connected to the DC bus, and a kinetic storage device (KSD) device electrically connected to the AC load bus on the AC side of the inverter module.

  • Patent number: 11561815
Abstract: Techniques are described for enabling a service provider to determine the power utilization of electrical lineups powering physical servers in a data center and place virtual machine instances into the physical servers based on the power utilization and a user-specified preference of a virtual machine instance type. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method includes determining a power utilization for each lineup of a plurality of lineups that comprise a plurality of racks of physical servers, selecting a lineup of the plurality of lineups for the virtual machine instance based on the power utilizations for the plurality of lineups, selecting a virtual machine slot for the virtual machine instance from a plurality of candidate virtual machine slots of the physical servers of the lineup based on the user-specified preference, and causing the virtual machine slot of a physical server of the lineup to execute the virtual machine instance.

  • Patent number: 11050294
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing a collection of power supply units (PSUs), such as those used in a datacenter environment, can include detecting changes in an output load on the PSUs to less than a target output load that is based on a target efficiency of the PSUs. In response to the indication that the output load is decreasing, PSUs can be selectively deactivated so that that an average output load of remaining, active PSUs of the collection of PSUs remains above the target output load corresponding to the target efficiency of the PSUs.
