    Abstract: The invention is directed to a composition and method for treating acute pain using a composition comprising one or more NSAID's, a metasilicate and optionally a fatty acid ester resulting in increased absorption of poorly soluble active NSAID's and increased absorption in suppressed vagal systems. The preferred composition comprises meloxicam on a metasilicate matrix; and one or more of the following: sodium bicarbonate, Gelucire®, and tartaric acid.
