Abstract: Wet type gas scrubber in which gases are brought into a central column tangentially and swirled downwardly towards the scrubbing water in a settling tank. The gases are then reversed upwardly and outwardly of the central column where they are passed through a demister and out the scrubber stack. Steam and water spray headers are located so as to prevent the unit from clogging. Means are provided in the tank for removing the solids and particulates from the scrubber area and for preventing build-up or accumulations of solids under the scrubber.
