  • Publication number: 20220386063
Abstract: In general, the present embodiments relate to a method and apparatus for estimating spatial content of a soundfield at a desired location, including a location that has actual sound content obstructed or distorted. According to certain aspects, the present embodiments aim at presenting a more natural, spatially accurate sound, for example to a user at the desired location who is wearing a helmet, mimicking the sound a user would experience if they were not wearing any headgear. Modes for enhanced spatial hearing may be applied which would include situation-dependent processing for augmented hearing. According to other aspects, methods and apparatuses record or capture the sound experienced by a number of the participants and devices on and near the field of play, analyze the captured sound for its various components and their associated spatial content, and make those components available to participants and spectators.

  • Publication number: 20150201889
Abstract: Scans of brains result in data that can be challenging to display due to its complexity, multi-dimensionality, and range. Visual representations of such data are limited due to the nature of the display, the number of possible dimensions that can be represented visually, and the capacity of our visual system to perceive and interpret visual data. This paper describes the use of sonification to interpret brain scans and use sound as a complementary tool to view, analyze, and diagnose. The sonification tool may be used as a method to augment visual brain data display.
