  • Publication number: 20130335079
Abstract: Multi-functional sample rotation extends function of the MAS beyond suppression of the line-broadening. It is achieved with pivotal or axial displacement of the rotor. Specific embodiments are defined by methods for spin-distance or particle size measurements and efficient high-resolution DNP.

  • Publication number: 20050162164
Abstract: The invention relates to the probehead of nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer comprising a frame, a radio frequency coil attached thereto and a rotor located inside the coil containing the examined sample, supported by bearings and provided with turbines at both ends, a source of compressed gas, an executive unit and a control unit. The innovative step involves using different turbines that make the rotor rotate in the same or in opposite directions and providing the executive unit with at least two compressed gas channels for rotor velocity control for each turbine, whereas the coil is connected to the inner surface of the frame with at least two, preferably four sheets of thin non-conductive and non-magnetic material. The rotation velocity of the probehead rotor can be controlled and the rotation direction reversed thereby obtaining additional information on the examined sample during the measuring process.

  • Patent number: 4968938
Abstract: An improved NMR apparatus and method are described which substantially improve the resolution of NMR measurements made on powdered or amorphous or otherwise orientationally disordered samples. The apparatus spins the sample about an axis. The angle of the axis is mechanically varied such that the time average of two or more Legendre polynomials are zero.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 27, 1989
Date of Patent: November 6, 1990
Assignee: The Regents of the University of California
    Inventors: Alexander Pines, Ago Samoson
  • Patent number: 4968939
Abstract: An improved NMR probe and method are described which substantially improve the resolution of NMR measurements made on powdered or amorphous or otherwise oreintationally disordered samples. The apparatus mechanically varies the orientation of the sample such that the time average of two or more sets of spherical harmonic functions is zero.
