  • Patent number: 4379074
Abstract: This application relates to a process for the homopolymerization (or copolymerization) of unsaturated compounds, particularly ethylene and higher alpha olefines, to give homopolymers (or copolymers) having a wide molecular weight distribution. The polymerization yields are very high, even at relatively low pressures (10 bars), i.e. such as not to require scrubbing in order to remove the catalytic residue from the polymer. These results are obtained by using, in union with an organometallic aluminium compound, a catalyst in the form of a new titanium trihalide-based chemical composition satisfying the following formula:TiX.sub.3.mM'Y.sub.n.qM"Y'.sub.p.cAlY".sub.3-s R.sub.

  • Patent number: 4128566
Abstract: The present specification describes novel aluminum-polyimine compounds that are useful as catalysts for the polymerization of unsaturated compounds. The aluminum-polyimine compounds are of the formula:Al.sub.h (NR).sub.k H.sub.i Y.sub.jin which R is an aliphatic, aromatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, H is hydride hydrogen, Y is halogen, K ranges from 2 to 50, h/k>1, (i+j)/h>1, i.noteq.0 and j.gtoreq.0.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 1977
Date of Patent: December 5, 1978
    Assignee: Snamprogetti, S.p.A.

  • Patent number: 4105588
Abstract: Process for the purification of olefins by removing oxygen and acetylene from them which comprises passing the olefins over a contact material consisting essentially of a metallic element from the first B group of the period system which element is homogeneously and finely dispersed on a carrier selected from zeolites, spheroidal alumina, silica gel, Kieselghur or colloidal silica stabilized in an aqueous suspension. The purification process is carried out at temperatures of from -50 to 50.degree. C. under pressures of from 0.01 to 60 atmospheres. The contact material is prepared by mixing a suitable compound of the metallic element such as a carbonate or ammonia complex with the selected carrier, thereafter atomizing the mixture to obtain microspheroids, granulating the spheroids into the desired shape and size and finally subjecting the carrier material to a reducing treatment to obtain the metallic element thereon.

  • Patent number: 4072739
Abstract: The invention relates to the purification of homo- and copolymers of mono- and diolefines, as obtained from a solution polymerization in the presence of uranium catalysts, from the catalyst residues, and particularly to a process for the removal of the uranium from the hydrocarbon solution of the polymer, which solution is mixed with an aqueous solution of ammonium carbonate, the thus resulting aqueous phase being then separately treated for the recovery of the ammonium carbonate and of the uranium.
