    Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided a novel chia (Salvia hispanica L.) variety, designated Sahi Alba 914 which is independent of photoperiod, in contrast to its closest relatives. This allows the variety to be sown earlier, and to be grown at higher latitudes such as the United States.
