  • Patent number: 7007776
Abstract: A bicycle disk brake device includes an anchored member secured to a bicycle frame and having a coupling wall, a caliper having two brake linings mounted thereon and a compliant wall compliantly mated with the coupling wall, and a brake disk secured to the bicycle frame and spaced apart from the linings. A tightening member is disposed to displace the compliant wall from a slightly loosened position, where the compliant wall is permitted to angularly displace relative to the coupling wall so as to adjust a position of the linings relative to the disk, to a tightened position, where the compliant wall is prevented from moving relative to the coupling wall. Due to the compliant mating of the coupling and compliant walls, the position of the linings can be adjusted conveniently and precisely.

  • Patent number: 6105735
Abstract: A brake device includes a shoe holder, and a brake shoe held by the shoe holder. The brake shoe has a plurality of outwardly projecting brake parts, a plurality of grooves each of which is formed between two adjacent ones of the brake parts and each of which is defined by a pair of groove walls, a plurality of flat contact faces formed on the brake parts, respectively, and spaced apart by the grooves, and a pair of buffer faces formed at two opposite ends of each of the contact faces to connect each of the contact faces to two adjacent ones of the groove walls. Each of the buffer faces extends inwardly of the corresponding one of the contact faces.

  • Patent number: 5896956
Abstract: A bicycle brake device includes opposing first and second brake arms which have respective fixed lower ends and movable upper ends. Two seats support the fixed lower ends. Two brake pads are mounted on the brake arms between the upper and lower ends. A brake cable extends through and engages the upper end of the second brake arm. A directing member directs the brake cable from the upper end of the second brake arm toward the first brake arm. The directing member includes a ring plate which is connected to the upper end of the first brake arm and which has a hole for threading the brake cable therethrough. A simultaneous movement member transmits the movement of the first brake arm to the second brake arm, thereby evenly pressing a rim of a bicycle wheel during a braking operation.

  • Patent number: 5887486
Abstract: A locking device for use in a bicycle brake system in order to retain a hand-operated brake lever thereof in a braked state includes a locking member of resilient material, and a bearing device for bearing the locking member on the brake lever. The brake system includes a mounting seat fixed on a bicycle handlebar for connecting a brake cable to the brake lever. The brake lever has a first end mounted pivotally to the mounting seat and turnable about a first axis. The locking member includes a pressure bearing portion, a pair of spaced bracing arm portions which extend traversely and respectively from two ends of the pressure bearing portion, and a pair of leg portions which extend inwardly and respectively from the bracing arm portions. The bearing device includes a pair of pivot holes formed in two opposite lateral walls of the brake lever to receive the leg portions therein such that the pressure bearing portion and the leg portions of the locking member are generally parallel to the first axis.
