Patent number: 9827938Abstract: The present invention discloses embodiments of an apparatus, system and related method for diagnosing initiators in air bag systems. An embodiment of the system comprises a diagnostic circuit electrically connected between acceleration switches and one or more squib, that is user-activated via a momentary switch, and with user-feedback, wherein a user can diagnose the health of the one or more squib with no power drain while inactive. An embodiment of a method related to the system comprises activating a momentary switch, completing a circuit whereby a diagnostic circuit may function, indicating to the user that the diagnostic circuit is functioning, regulating the current into the diagnostic circuit so that the squib does not fire, boosting the signal to a window comparator, detecting the desired voltage by the window comparator, giving feedback to the user that the voltage is good, too high, or too low.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2016Date of Patent: November 28, 2017Assignee: SCHROTH Safety Products LLCInventors: Mario Schnetger, Ray Garcia, Craig William White, Ahad M. Zadeh, Stefan Meier-Arndt

Patent number: 7322603Abstract: A seat belt system, in one form, includes a buckle anchored along the side of the seat, a tongue slidably mounted on the seat belt for being latched in the buckle to define the shoulder and lap belt portions, and a retractor for pay in and pay out of the seat belt into and out from the retractor. The airbag is fixed to the tongue and configured for sliding along the seat belt so that with the tongue latched in the buckle the airbag extends along the same position irrespective of the size of the occupant. Alternatively, the airbag is fixed to a guide loop adjacent to the shoulder of the occupant and configured to allow for sliding of the seat belt relative thereto so that with the tongue latched in the buckle the airbag extends from the same position and across the occupant's torso irrespective of the size of the occupant.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2005Date of Patent: January 29, 2008Assignee: Takata Seat Belts, Inc.Inventors: Mark F. Gray, Ahad M. Zadeh, Chris Hall, Robert F. Rogers
