Abstract: Method, system and computer program product for encoding a pixelized target graphic symbol by obtaining an encoded pixel cluster that is encoded with a code that is characteristic of the target graphic symbol and pixelizing the target graphic symbol using at least one encoded pixel cluster. A document having printed thereon such optically readable target graphic symbols is decoded by optically scanning or photographing the document at sufficiently high resolution to obtain a pixel array all of whose pixels are discretely identifiable. The pixel array is processed so as to identify discrete graphic symbols each comprising one or more respective pixel clusters, at least one which in each discrete graphic symbol is identified and decoded so as to determine an identity of the discrete graphic symbol associated therewith.
