  • Patent number: 8705684
Abstract: A surface conditioning scheduling process is used to mitigate susceptibility to crack initiation or crack growth in a boiling water nuclear reactor using a plurality of working crews. A plurality of working zones are defined in an annulus region of a reactor vessel flange, and a plurality working zones are defined in a core region of the reactor vessel. One of the working crews is positioned in each of the annulus region working zones, and one of the working crews is positioned in each of the core region working zones. The working crews perform surface conditioning in areas of the reactor vessel accessible from their respective working zones such that the surface conditioning process can be completed in no more than thirty days.

Date of Patent: April 22, 2014
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Frank Ortega, Hsueh-Wen Na Pao, Henry Peter Offer, Ahdee Quan Chan
  • Patent number: 7730096
Abstract: A method for utilizing a database for an inspection of an industrial plant includes downloading a spreadsheet from a remote database containing inspection-related data for the industrial plant, wherein the spreadsheet includes selection lists of inspection data. The method further includes entering inspection data into the spreadsheet utilizing the selection lists and uploading the spreadsheet with the entered inspection data to the remote computer to thereby update the remote database.

  • Publication number: 20070153959
Abstract: A method for optimizing a nuclear reactor refueling outage schedule using a computer system coupled to a database is provided. The method includes, in one embodiment, inputting into the computer system data relating to a current status of a nuclear reactor, with the reactor data including information related to current tooling, processes, and financial data; storing the reactor data in the database; and inputting into the computer system a proposed refueling outage schedule profile, with the outage schedule profile including critical path tasks and an estimated duration for each of the critical path tasks. The method further includes generating a gap analysis by comparing the proposed refueling outage schedule profile to a predetermined refueling outage schedule profile, where the predetermined schedule profile represents an optimum schedule; and determining the critical path tasks where adjustments to the task durations result in an optimized refueling outage schedule profile using the gap analysis.

  • Patent number: 6772098
Abstract: A method is provided for managing inspection requirements using a network-based system. The system includes a server system coupled to a centralized database and at least one client system. The method includes receiving information relating to a plurality of components of a specific plant and storing the information into a centralized database. The method further includes cross-referencing the information received, updating the centralized database based on the information received and providing information in response to an inquiry.
