  • Patent number: 8576772
Abstract: A cooperative cluster of wireless nodes exchange data before cooperatively communicating with a destination node over a MIMO channel. In a cooperative cluster of M nodes, each node shares 1/M of its own data with each of the other nodes, and keeps 1/M of its own data for transmission. Each node receives 1/M of data from each cooperative node. The data is merged at each cooperative node, and transmitted to the destination node.

  • Publication number: 20130258874
Abstract: A method for reporting uplink control information (UCI) on a user equipment (UE) is described. Multiple channel state information (CSI) reports are generated for multiple channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) received on a serving cell. The multiple CSI-RS reports are scheduled to be transmitted in a subframe. An overall highest priority CSI report is determined using a method of prioritization. The overall highest priority CSI report is selected. The overall highest priority CSI report is transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20130258954
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) for selecting a Channel State Information (CSI) report is described. The UE includes a processor and memory in electronic communication with the processor. Executable instructions are stored in the memory. The UE generates multiple CSI reports corresponding to at least one serving cell. A group of one or more CSI reports with a same association forms a CSI report set. The UE applies a first prioritization rule to select a single CSI report for each CSI report set and drops at least one first prioritization unselected CSI report if there is an intra-set transmission scheduling collision. The UE also applies a second prioritization rule to select at least one CSI report if there is an inter-set transmission scheduling collision.

  • Publication number: 20130258973
Abstract: A method for reporting uplink control information (UCI) on a user equipment (UE) is described. A channel state information (CSI) process index is set to a value received in a CSI process configuration for each serving cell if a message the UE received includes the CSI process configuration for the serving cell. A CSI process index is set to a default value if a message the UE received does not include a CSI process configuration for the serving cell.

  • Patent number: 8543867
Abstract: A communication device configured for transmission of Acknowledgement and Negative Acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) is described. The communication device includes a processor and instructions stored in memory. The communication device determines one or more thresholds based on a size of one or more code words and generates a compressed ACK/NACK sequence. The compressed ACK/NACK sequence identifies one or more correctly received code words and one or more incorrectly received code words if the number of incorrectly received code words is less than the threshold. If the number of incorrectly received code words is greater than the threshold, the compressed ACK/NACK sequence indicates that all of the one or more code words were incorrectly received.

  • Publication number: 20130242799
Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) for sending Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) information is described. The UE includes a processor and instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The UE determines a primary cell (PCell) configuration. The UE also determines a secondary cell (SCell) configuration. The UE further determines whether the PCell configuration specifies uplink (UL) and the SCell configuration specifies downlink (DL) for a subframe or whether the PCell configuration specifies DL and the SCell configuration specifies DL for the subframe. The UE additionally determines a HARQ Acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) reporting subframe based on the PCell configuration if the PCell configuration specifies DL and the SCell configuration specifies DL for the subframe. The UE also sends SCell Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) HARQ-ACK information in the HARQ-ACK reporting subframe.

  • Patent number: 8503400
Abstract: A method for base station reselection in a wireless communications system is disclosed. The method may determine a first indication of signal strength for a first signal sent from a first base station and received by a user equipment (UE). The method may also determine a second indication of signal strength for a second signal sent from a second base station and received by the UE. • Publication number: 20130155898
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) for reporting information is described. The UE includes a processor and instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The UE selects a reference cell having a reference uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration. The UE also selects a first uplink subframe from the reference cell. The UE further selects a first subframe set from a first cell having a first UL-DL configuration. The first UL-DL configuration is different than the reference UL-DL configuration. The UE additionally determines a first set of associations between the first subframe set and the first uplink subframe. The UE further aggregates information corresponding to the reference cell and information corresponding to the first cell based on the first set of associations to produce aggregated information. Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) configured for allocating resources and encoding for Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) is described. The UE includes a processor and instructions stored in memory. The UE receives Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling, receives a reference signal and determines a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) based on the reference signal. The UE also determines a format for CQI transmission. If use of Format 3 is determined the UE determines cells for CQI reporting based on the RRC signaling and determines an encoding. The UE also encodes a feedback message based on the encoding and transmits the feedback message.

  • Patent number: 8386876
Abstract: For downlink cooperative multi-point (CoMP) communication, each cooperating transmission point (e.g., base station) may send a retransmission packet with a different redundancy version to a user equipment (UE). Mechanisms may be provided to determine which transmission point should send packets with which redundancy version. For uplink CoMP, in order to reduce the backhaul overhead, each cooperating base station may share only a fraction of the retransmitted packet with the serving base station. Also, different retransmission packets with different redundancy versions can be transmitted to different cooperating base stations using spatial degrees of freedom.
