  • Publication number: 20110278039
Abstract: An eco friendly radiation cross-linked composition is described that demonstrates excellent resistance to fire and high temperature along with good mechanical properties. The composition which is based on a blend of EVA with a LLDPE, is free of monomer such as vinyl co-agent for radiation cross-linking. The halogen free flame retardant composition is a mixture of 20 to 90% by weight of magnesium hydroxide (powder A) and 90% to 20% of powder B. Preferably the powder B is a double salt of magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate and the magnesium hydroxide has a specific surface treatment. In addition, 0.5 to 5 parts of flame retardancy auxiliary agents are selected from talc, zinc borate or molybdate derivative. The chemicals used here reduce toxicity in the environment and do not release toxic chemicals to air and soil during fire. The flame retardant cross-linked polyolefin composition is particularly useful for insulating wires and cables.

  • Publication number: 20110233815
Abstract: A tetrazolium bromide dye, e.g., 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), to be used as a high dose solution dosimeter is disclosed. The dose response of MTT solution dosimeter increases strongly with increase of absorbed dose up to 1 kGy. In order to increase the dose range and for ease of handling the present dosimeter as routine dosimeter, MTT-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film dosimeter is used. The dose response of MTT-PVA film dosimeters increases strongly with increase of absorbed dose up to 25 kGy. Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) as a polymer for making a film provides more stability at higher temperatures and humidity levels and less calibration is required. The dose response of MTT-PVB film dosimeters is effective with absorbed dose of up to 100 kGy.

  • Publication number: 20110180301
Abstract: This invention focuses on improving mechanical properties without deteriorating flame retardancy in peroxide cross-linked and radiation cross-linked thermosetting clean flame retardant compositions. Optimal mechanical properties can be obtained by modifying the ratios of MAGNIFIN H10A/Ultracarb LH 15X in peroxide crosslinked or radiation crosslinked clean flame retardant composition. Higher tensile strength can be obtained by higher MAGNIFIN H10A content, and higher elongation at break can be obtained by higher Ultracarb LH 15X content. The invented compositions show excellent mechanical properties, flame retardancy, thermal properties, electrical properties and process ability for meeting the stringent specifications of wire and cable industry. Composition is made of 100 parts by weight of resin (polyolefin or 100 parts by weight of polyolefin/EPDM), 90-150 parts by weight of MAGNIFIN H10A/Ultracarb LH 15X as main flame retardants, 1-20 parts by weight of auxiliary secondary flame retardant agents and 0.2-1.

  • Patent number: 7787366
Abstract: A method and apparatus for alleviating congestion of a wireless medium used by an access point (AP) and a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) is disclosed. If congestion is determined to exist on the wireless medium, a determination is then made as to whether there are any low priority traffic streams established between the AP and at least one of the WTRUs. If there are no low priority traffic streams established between the AP and at least one of the WTRUs, selected ones of the associated WTRUs are disassociated with the AP based on the amount of time spent by the WTRUs trying to transmit and retransmit unacknowledged packets or on a specific traffic stream access category. If low priority traffic streams have been established, the packet transmission delay associated with the low priority traffic streams is increased when congestion exists. Otherwise, the packet transmission delay is decreased.
