  • Publication number: 20190002012
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling the ramp in of current to an electronic power assisted steering motor associated with an auto stop-start engine are described. A controller is to determine a moving average voltage of a vehicle battery. The controller is also to determine a voltage rate of change based on the moving average voltage. The controller is also to determine a moving average engine speed of an auto stop-start engine of the vehicle. The controller is also to ramp in current to an electronic power assisted steering motor of the vehicle based on the moving average voltage, the voltage rate of change, and the moving average engine speed.

  • Patent number: 10112612
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine operable in an auto stop-start (SS) mode. The engine is adapted to auto stop and auto start in the SS mode. The vehicle further includes a transmission operable in an idle load reduction (ILR) mode. In the ILR mode, engagement of a forward clutch is disposed in an alternate first gear state. A controller is operably connected to the engine and the transmission. The controller is programmed to command the engine to operate in the SS mode when a speed of the vehicle is below a predetermined threshold unless one or more SS inhibit conditions are present. The controller is further programmed to, when one or more SS inhibit conditions are present, inhibit operation of the engine in the SS mode and to command the transmission to operate in the ILR mode unless one or more ILR inhibit conditions are present.

  • Patent number: 10005448
Abstract: An engine control system for a vehicle includes a controller that initiates a start of the engine in response to a state of charge (SOC) of a battery falling below an engine start threshold, initiates a stop of the engine in response to the SOC exceeding an engine stop threshold, and adjusts a value of the engine start threshold based on whether a load remote from the vehicle is drawing power from the battery.

  • Patent number: 9964090
Abstract: A vehicle includes electric brakes, an engine with a starter, a battery and a controller. The battery has a voltage and is configured to power the starter, the electric brakes, and the controller. The controller is configured to, in response to a speed of the vehicle falling within a specified range without propulsive demand and while the voltage is greater than an upper voltage that varies based on a charge needed to engage the brakes to stop the vehicle, stop the engine.

  • Publication number: 20180121071
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and computer storage media are disclosed for vehicle display based on vehicle speed. An example vehicle includes a speed sensor to measure a vehicle speed, a display controller to compare the vehicle speed to a threshold, and a display. The example display is to present, in response to the vehicle speed being less than the threshold, a first button at a button location. The example display is to present, in response to the vehicle speed being greater than or equal to the threshold, a second button at the button location.
